IIT Delhi, a dream of every student

The management is one of the best in the world. IITD Delhi is the best engineering college in india. It has also made into the top 50 of QS world university rankings.

The course curriculum of electrical engineering is a bit different from others. All the topics are covered but not in depth. So if you want to pursue further studies in any specific area you may not have enough grasp on the subject. But the content is enough to secure on-campus placements. There are no industrial visits but the labs are so advanced that you can learn many things.

Companies like Texas instruments, microsoft, Google,etc visited the campus in the past for placements. The selection will mostly be on an online test and a personal interview. Almost 80-90 % of students get placed every year. The institute does not provide any special assistance to prepare the students for placement session.

The college organises Rendezvous, north indias largest cultural fest. Tryst, north indias largest technical fest and Sportech, a sports fest. People form all over India attend the fests. The footfall is around 20,000 for Rendezvous, 10,000 for Tryst and Sportech which are organised at the same time.

The fee is 1,00,000+ extra charges per semester. The payment can be made through sbi collect and Paytm. There are no additional fees to be paid in order to secure an admission to my course. The college does not disclose the fee breakdown in the fee circular.

The scholarships are awarded based on your household's annual income. You should submit the necessary income certificate in the accounts section to avail the scholarship. The scholarship varies from 1/3 rd to 2/3 rd of the tution fees.

The gender ratio is very low. But it is improving in recent years. In my department it is around 1:8. There are 10 cultural clubs in the college like debating, music,drama, dance, arts, etc. Regular workshops are organised by these clubs. There are students from different regions of the country. The college also accepts admissions from outside India also. The population of South Indians is less in here compared to other IIT's in the south like IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Bombay. There is no discrimination as such with regards to the above criterion. The institute has zero tolerance policy against ragging and discrimination. You will have to face disciplinary committee and necessary action will be taken if you don't abide by the rules.

There are 13 hostels in total. 11 for boys and 2 for girls. Each hostel has an average capacity of 400 students ( Except for two hostels which have a capacity of 800 students). The rooms are shared with 2-3 people depending on the size of room in your initial years. In final year you will get a single room. The PG's are situated right outside the campus for off-campus accomodation. The charges are around 6000 per month.

The college seniors and alumni give a lot of suggestions which will be useful in your life at here. They give suggestions on studies, extra curriculars, sports, cultural activities, placements, how to manage the labs,etc. They are really helpful to you. At any point of time if you are struck you can always contact them.

I liked electrical engineering from the knowledge I had in the 12 th. So ultimately I choose this college according to my JEE advanced rank. The admission is a two step process. First you need to clear JEE mains. If you qualify in that you will get to write JEE advanced. Next you get to fill the preferences for college and branch. Based on the rank list of JEE advanced you will be allocated best possible preference for you.

Number of lectures ina course could vary from 1-4. It depends on the number of students, lab sessions, etc. Average age of the faculty is around 40. They all are well qualified with atleast a PhD and a post doctoral fellowship. They also have written many research papers and also published them in top class journals. Most of the lectures also have the industry experience. They often collaborate with the industries to solve some problems.
