Remarks

It's a great heritage institution one can be a part of. A lot of opportunities lie in this college. Once a Xavierian, can help you get thourough alot of great contacts & meet a lot of renowned & good people. Personalities like Amitabh Bachhan, Shah Rukh Khan have visited our college, inspiring students to work for their dreams.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Course is completely Research Based. The entire syllabus is based on UGC Curriculum & the college being an Autonomous gets alot of perks when it comes to decision making. The entire exam structure is decided by the College Administration even though it gets its affiliation from Calcutta University. The exam structure is comparatively difficult than the other colleges in order to help the students get use to research & self study. 60% of the Paper is designed to be simple & in favour of the students but it's not that easy though & the rest 40% is a higher & deeper version of the syllabus.

Placement Experience

4

Placements & Job Opportunities for my course isn't that well-to-do. Opportunities for other courses are really great. We have a Placement Cell which looks into the entire placement process & also provides internship opportunities to the students. I have never been into any internship but from sources, the internships are good enough.

College Events

4.5

Xavotsav is the Cultural Fest celebrated by our college which is organised by St. Xavier's College Student Council. It is the biggest cultural fest in West Bengal. Every Department in our college has its own annual Departmental Fest. For example, Mathematics Dept. has Analytica as it's annual fest. Statistics has Epsilon Delta as it's fest. Science Association - Sigma 2020 Commerce Society - Insignia Computer Science - eXabyte

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes, it is quite feasible for few Departments which includes Science & Arts Courses. It is quite expensive for Commerce Department. The entire fee structure is quarterly basis. There's a level of transparency in the entire process. Charges for Electricity, Development, Library & miscellaneous.

Fees and Financial Aid

We don't have any scholarships or loan facility available in college. But yes if any student is going thourough a financial crisis & has proved himself with great academic result, college Administration looks into such cases with great concern & helps the student to do better.

Campus Life

5

We have a Sports Club in our college which helps students with talent in sports to excel by going in different state level competitions. We also have Annual Sports Day to facilitate Sports in students. We have a lot of meaningful societies with different aim in college. Every society has its own impact in the society. We are apolitical college & here the college administration is complete against such practices. We have different labs for different courses. Microbiology Lab, Biotechnology Lab and what not.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes. St. Xavier's College Calcutta Alumni is known in the entire nation for it's sources. Great personalities have graduated from our college. Personalities like Sajiv Goenka, Vijay Malya, Sashi Tharoor, along with many great celebrities have been a part of this institution. This makes our college a renowned one with students who belong to the most affluent & impactful families of the city.

Admission

I got admission in this college via Merit List Process. There was an index calculation which was on the basis of my Class 12 Marks & on this Index Calculation, a merit list was declared. I wanted to pursue Mathematics as my stream but I got in the first list of Computer Science & took admission. The cutoff for Mathematics was too high for me to get featured in the first two lists, but after two weeks, third list for Mathematics Honors was declared which had my name and so I changed my stream from Computer Science to Mathematics.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty, no doubt is one of the best not only in West Bengal but also in the Country. All Professors have their own research papers published in reputed journals. Some are currently doing PhD & some have already completed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Computers are so vast that masters is mandatory and therefore I have certain plans for that. However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

I currently in 2nd year, so I don't have much idea about placements that college offers. But have a brief idea on the besis of the seniors. My collage provides internships, and the average package is also good. From the sixth semester one can become eligible for internships. My plan is to study further, Msc and PhD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
