Remarks
College can try changing some outdated policies. Like compulsory attandance. It becomes very difficult for students pursuing CA or preparing for exams like CAT, NIMCET etc. The syllabus should also be reviewed and updated regularly to keep up with the changing trends.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum: The syllabus was outdated.Today's requirements for computer science are different from what we learnt. We were not given any choices on the subjects we could take up.Mandatory elective subjects were physics and mathematics.Mathematics is very useful, but studying physics for this course was pointless.Taking up economics or statistics would have been better. Exam pattern: Semester system with semester exams on April-May and November-December.There was a mid semester exam also. Not much research opportunities in the college.Generally, students and teachers were not interested in such stuff.
Placement Experience
Job opportunities are mainly for the students of Bcom, BBA and economics department. Many big companies like Deloitte, Ernst Young, KPMG, PWC, JP Morgan, My Sigma, DE Shaw etc, in addition to many other smaller companies came.Students of Computer science department had few opportunities as well like TCS, cognizant, Deloitte consulting etc.
College Events
Numerous events are celebrated in the college.Almost every department has its own annual fest.In addition to that, every society- drama society, music and dance society, science association, commerce association, language societies- all had their own tests as well. The biggest event of all was the all college fest- Xavotsav which is a 3 day fest with participation from many other colleges.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees depend on the course selected.A government aided course will have a fee structure of around Rs.18000- Rs.25000 per quarter whereas a non aided course will have fees ranging from 35000-50000 per quarter.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't avail a scholarship.Financial aid may be available to students on a case by case basis.Decision is taken by the college authorities. In general no scholarships are available. In general most students do not require scholarships as the fees are affordable.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is pretty good in the college. Most courses that are co-ed have a fair share of men and women.Workshops are also organized by societies from time to time and cover a wide range of topics.Different events also take place all around the year.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is huge.Annual alumni meet also takes place every year along with a annual alumni dinner.Beyond Barriers is a fest organized by the alumni association which occurs every year and sees performances by notable artists.Notable alumni or the college include Lakshmi Mittal, Sanjeev Goenka etc.
Admission
Admission is on the basis of 12th board marks.Out of all the applications, a merit list is prepared and the students are notified accordingly. The number of seats are fixed. From the students in the merit list, a first list is published. If seats remain after the first round of admission, a second list is published and the same prosecco takes place.
Faculty
Faculty overall has good qualifications, however, certain teachers lack the ability to interact with students and make a lecture interesting. Most teachers just came to class regularly and ended up giving notes.Since attendance was compulsory, most classes were filled. However, certain teachers lacked the capability to conduct a productive class/lecture in which case, the compulsory attendance was a problem.
