I’d recommend NIT Trichy if you want a solid financial investment with better placement prospects and a vibrant campus life.

I prefer MNNIT Allahabad for the following reasons -

• Great placement opportunities and excellent professors. You never feel alone; they are very supportive.
• A vibrant college environment with a coding club that organizes many events.
• Close to home, so you can visit your family frequently.
• Seniors provide guidance to juniors in a very respectful manner.
• Good quality food, especially North Indian dishes.
• A pleasant campus atmosphere.

NIT Trichy stands out for its strong Computer Science Engineering program, with excellent faculty and a vibrant campus life featuring major festivals like Festember and Pragyan, fostering both technical and soft skills. The placement stats are impressive too, boasting a median package of 14 LPA and a high placement rate, which is crucial in today's job market. In contrast, MNNIT Allahabad’s Electronics & Communication Engineering might have a more specialized focus, but it lacks detailed data on placements and campus events. Given this, I’d personally recommend NIT Trichy for its overall student experience, diverse opportunities, and robust placement record, especially if you’re inclined toward tech fields.

I am from NIT Trichy. There are a lot of software companies—around 60—visiting our campus. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, DE-Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Uber, Oracle, Atlassian, Morgan Stanley, SAP Labs, Cisco, Visa, PayPal, JPMorgan, American Express, etc., come to recruit here.

• 10-13 companies offer CTC > 20 LPA.
• 9 companies have CTC between 15-20 LPA.
• Approximately 40 companies have CTC > 10 LPA.

There are also numerous clubs and events that help with personality development, communication skills, and teamwork experience.

NIT Trichy ranks 1st among all NITs. From a career perspective, NITT would be a better choice. Most software companies are located in metropolitan cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Noida, and Pune. So, you will have to leave your hometown at some point.

Choose NIT Trichy (Tiruchirappalli) over MNNIT Allahabad. Here’s why:

• 1. You mentioned your hometown is Allahabad. The reality is, after graduating from either college, you likely won’t stay in Allahabad. So why not start the transition early? Living away from home in a hostel will better prepare you for life after college.
• 2. Both colleges have decent placement records. However, if you join MNNIT Allahabad as a day scholar, you’ll miss out on 4 years of hostel life. The friendships and bonds formed during those years are irreplaceable.
• 3. The gap between NIT Trichy and MNNIT Allahabad is minimal in terms of rankings today. But remember, hiring managers don’t solely rely on rankings. 15–20 years ago, when many hiring managers were students, the consensus was that NIT Trichy was superior to NIT Allahabad. It’s likely that this perception still lingers in their minds.
• 4. As someone who has experience with both colleges, I can tell you that the environment and opportunities at NIT Trichy can be more beneficial in the long run.
