Placement Experience:

So the student becomes eligible for intenrship after 2nd year of college and for placement after 3rd year. starting from may-june company starts coming to the campus and we have placement session till the end of our college period. The highest package was given by D.E. Shaw and which was around 63 LPA. The average package of CSE branch was around 27 LPA. In CSE around 85%-90% has either internship offer or placement offer till the end of the college.

Placement Experience:

The placement statistics is very good. Almost all the good and top companies visit here. Internships start from the end of second yr. Nearly 20% students gets internships. Every company has different different criteria of eligibility based on CGPA and resume. Mostly company that visits the campus doesn't go empty, it always hires students from here. Some companies like media.net and UIPath has made no offers. Highest package- 64 LPA for SDE and Average Package- 15 LPA for SDE. Placement percentage for CSE is 90% and overall placement percentage is 70%. I want to become a software develper after pursuing my degree. And after some years I am thinking of doing MBA for better future opportunities.

As a former ECE student at MNNIT Allahabad, I can say that this is one of the best departments of our college. MNNIT is one of the best choices for an ECE, among all the NITs.

Here are some details about the department-

Faculty- As someone freshly out of school, this will come as a shock to you. Not just MNNIT, rather the faculty of all major Indian colleges is not up to the mark. But there are always some dedicated teachers among the lot, it is your job to find them and learn from them.

The ECE faculty is decent. Some teachers are really bad at teaching, but there is none who lacks knowledge. The department has some excellent researchers and administrators.

Infrastructure- The college infrastructure is not that good, it is in fact a bit disappointing. Regardless, the labs and academic block are well laid-out. Moreover, the ECE classrooms and labs are much better in comparison.

Exposure- The department makes every effort to provide its students with the best opportunities, but you need to take the first step and show genuine interest. The department will provide you the launchpad, but the effort has to come from your side.

Placements- This college is at par with the top engineering colleges of India in terms of ECE placements. The placement figures have been promising throughout. This is because of a highly sincere placement cell. Moreover, ECE students are eligible for jobs in almost all categories including IT, Software, Core and Consultancy.

The ECE department of MNNIT offers better grades, fewer classes, and comparatively lenient teachers. You’ll surely face ups and downs at the department, but in the end, it will all be worth it.

Here are a few parameters to compare B.Tech IT at both these colleges-

Faculty- The professors of IT at both the colleges are highly renowned, and always ready to help their students.

Infrastructure- IIIT Allahabad is new, so it has better infrastructure. But MNNIT has state-of-the-art labs and facilities. Some of these facilities are- CIR (Center for Interdisciplinary Research), Design Centre, STPI (s/w Technology park of India), etc.

Campus and Hostel Life- MNNIT has a much better campus and hostel life.

Alumni- The alumni of MNNIT Allahabad are present in every part of the globe. Being a much older institute, it has a higher number of notable alumni in reputed positions around the world.

Coding Culture- IIIT Allahabad has a better coding culture, and this has been proven by the performance of its students in ACM-ICPC, GSOC, etc. MNNIT certainly does not lag far behind, thanks to the computer club classes by final year students.

Curriculum- The curriculum of IIITA is centered around Computer Science, right from the first year itself. MNNIT delivers few programming courses in the first year, but the syllabus mainly begins from second year onwards.

Placements- Amazon, Flipkart ,eBay, Snapdeal, Cisco, Citrix, LinkedIn, Visa, etc. visit the IT department of MNNIT Allahabad. In 2023, the average package for B.Tech IT was 24.43 LPA at MNNIT (the highest CTC was 82.63 LPA).

The placement stats for IIITA are better, mainly because of lesser intake. During 2023, the average package for B.Tech IT at IIITA was 34.66 LPA (and the highest CTC was INR 82.50 LPA). Google, Code Nation, etc. visit the department with job offers.

Two of my close friends are studying at NIT Surathkal and MNNIT Allahabad respectively and often I hear them comparing their colleges based on some aspects.

Environment: Both NITs have a well-maintained and lush green campus. NIT Surathkal has a slight advantage because of its private beach. So, if you love beaches and swimming NIT Surathkal is for you. NIT Allahabad offers scenic views at Sangam and students enjoy taking holy baths and spending evenings there.
Faculty: MNNIT Allahabad are very friendly and often use their native language during lectures while NIT Surathkla professors are a nit professional and never use their native language in the classroom.
Placements : The average package of IT at NIT Suratkal is INR 23.03 LPA while that of CSE at MNNIT is INR 27.07 LPA. MNNIT Allahabad has slightly better placements although NIT Surathkal has a better location.
Food: It may be difficult to get non-veg food in Allahabad within the hostel premises. In NIT-S, there is no such restriction and a variety of non-veg food is offered.

One of my friends studied there. According to him, there is hardly any scope of Biotech in India. The engineering curriculum is ancient in India. Hence, there are no decent colleges that produce skilled Biotech professionals. Even if a few are, India lacks Biotech infrastructure.

The branch either should be removed from the curriculum or should be developed as per global standards. Most Indian B.Tech Biotech degree holders in India prepare for IT interviews or Government exams like Banking and Railways.

The disappointing part is that the Government sector has few job openings which can barely employ all the B.Sc/ M.Sc/ B.Tech/ M.Tech Biotech degree holders.

In most Tier-3 colleges like NIT Bhopal, NIT Allahabad, MNIT Jaipur, and others, the students join the service-based companies as clerks with the package around INR 3-4 LPA.

These placement figures do not guarantee core Biotech companies or jobs. In the end, if you want to dive into core Biotech, it is better to fly off outside India.

I have a few friends from MNNIT Allahabad and here is what they had to say.

Companies such as Adobe and Microsoft mainly prefer students from CSE/IT branches. Back in 2016, Adobe offered an internship to a Electrical student.
As far as Amazon is concerned it does prefer students from Electrical engineering as well.
Amazon on the other hand allows all the students. Other software companies which comes for recruitment allows ECE student as well.
Also, if you are interested, you can request to TPOs so that they can forward your request to the company’s HR. Depending upon your resume you can get the required allowance.

Having knowing people from both MNNIT and IIIT Allahabad, I can say that both are good institutes in terms of placement, faculty, and campus. The name tag is also big and the coding culture in both the institutes is also good. Choosing the college is entirely your decision.

If you want to make your career in the IT field then choose IIIT Allahabad. But if you are not sure whether you want to go into IT or some other field then choose MNNIT.
The placement of both MNNIT and IIIT is good.
The faculty of both are equally good.
The curriculum of IIIT Allahabad focused on IT from the first year itself and students of IIIT Allahabad are focused on making their career in the IT field.
In MNNIT subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Drawing will be taught.
