There are a number of faculties so as to.meet the student numbers. All the faculties are approachable and we can discuss our things with them except a few. Semster exams are conducted and internal exams are conducted before the main exam by the college authority. Syllabus for MA English Language and literature is so vast taht sometime students feel as not.able to.cover the whole

Faculty

There are around 7-8 professors to provide mentorship to around 180 no.of students in each class. There are around 2 classroom. Every professor has their own way of teaching so some are better and taken easily. But some can't adjust with us. Like the HOD. As per my degree which is of 2 years, there are 4 semesters and its exams are held every 6 months. The results are out when the next semester exam ends. If there is a backlog you can obviously give supply paper for next 2-3 years attempt. The checking is very strict and ample no.of students get a supply in more that one paper.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am persuing M.A in English Literature and this degree course includes semester fees of 2000/- and the exam fees is somewhere around 750/-. The fees structure is very minimal that actually gives wisdom to scholar from around the globe to pursue their higher studies from such a heritage. The professors are equally jewels with treasures of knowledge and experience. Every class is worth it. Scholarship like Swami Vivekananda Scholarship and Kanyashree Scholarship are also available to support students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fees was pretty nominal. Admission fees was around Rs1000. Each sem you have to pay exam fees which was Rs150 for first three sems, and Rs180 for the 4th sem. We also had to pay monthly fees that would be taken all together of 4-6 months at once. Our last year's fees was total Rs1244. Tuition fees Rs1200, rest are game fees library fees etc. Whatever you have to pay, it never crosses Rs.1500. I don't think fees were any lesser for reserved category students. One think to mention, all payments are taken through SBI collect portal, even if it's Rs1. For the scholarship part, you have your Swami Vivekananda or K3 scholarship, 24k each year of you complete without backlogs. Reserved category students also have their own scholarship. There also a single girl child scholarship, which you could aplly to if you're the only child of your parents and you're a girl. But you can only apply for one.

Course Curriculum Overview

I love literature that's why I took up this course. This course is not limited to just literature, we also learn about history, philosophy, psychology and linguistics. This course has so much potential but all are wasted as nobody teaches us how to apply it in real life. There are no active journals in the department that we could publish our papers in. Hardly any seminars. We are not required to write a thesis of any kind. We are just not taught how to go forward with this. Our classrooms are big but that doesn't mean we would all sit in the same classroom in 40° C. We have separate sections but are told to sit in the same room. We also could use projectors. Semesters are reduced to trimesters. No time to study. And they don't want to give you marks, the highest cgpa you can get is 7.

Faculty

The faculty is really top notched. The attendence is also something I would like describing about. If you do not procure 75% attendence the internal marking goes on the dead end. The university can even debarred you from sitting for the end semester exams. The faculty and mentors only guide students who are regular in their classes and seriously doing their works. The term papers are to be done with great care and effort. The faculty sometimes demean unserious and unalert students. Carelessness doesn't score a single goal in this university. As I have aforementioned, the faculty is strict but also helpful to students who are serious and attends their classes on a regular basis.

Course Curriculum Overview

I always loved English and literature, so the faculty and University really provided me with that effeciency with great effectiveness which influences me still to further my career in English . The difficulty is to be taken with care and seriousness. It is not at all an easy course as most people think it is. Literature in English is tough. You have to remain connected with various kind of books and read tons of articles and journals and research papers for good answers. Also take the notes of your lecture very well else it will affect your marks.

We have foundation day in january and it is celebratted for one week. There is a wide range of accessibility of books, texts and journala in our library. Yes we have digital boards and wifi facilitated class rooms in our campus. Our university encourages sports and extracurricular activities also. Like we have won in the competition of football match against different college. We have badminton, cricket, base ball etc. We are running some social groups and clubs in our college to improve and enhance the campus life and to explore more and to know each other. Here we are getting an open space to communicate our thoughts.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee is affordable for everyone. As far as I know there wwre no hikes is tution fee in our university. Our complete cost of education for two years of postgraduation in English costs around 50000 rupees without mess bill. Number of scholarships are available for students who are studing in universities. Few among those are post matric scholarship, e grants, nsp, etc. Till now I didn't get any campus employment as I'm doing my first year in post graduation.

I chose Bachelor's in English since I wanted to pursue my career in research studies in literature. The overall faculty is good and all are dedicated to shaping the students' life. Since the faculty was dedicated it wasn't difficult to pass the exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fee was budget-friendly. It was around INR 8,000; however, it might change. I didn't apply for a scholarship or financial assistance. However, there was no provision for job placement or internship opportunities back then.

I completed my B.A. in English and wanted to continue further studies in the same subject domain. M.A English hence was a suitable course for this. The faculty strength in the department is 12-13 professors. The faculties of the Department of English are allotted for undergrads, postgrads, and communication classes. The faculties are mostly post-doctoral candidates or experienced professors. The course includes 4 semesters, and exams are conducted at an interval of 6-month.

Campus Life

The campus is a 100-acre green campus. It has good canteen and library facilities. There are two canteens along with snacks sections at each department entrance. There are two libraries, one in the economics building and the other in the law department.

English is my favorite subject and as I have done my bachelor's course in English, I was predestined to pursue further studies to know more about the subject and that is why I have undergone a master's degree in English. There were nearly 20 professors and approximately 200 students in our course. The teaching method was excellent and the professors were highly educated. The exam was on an internal basis i.e. 20+80 marks and it was much tough to get good marks.

Campus Life

Some departmental freshers and farewells were arranged by the students of the campus. the library was so good and there were numerous books available on the campus. The university also held cultural programs like Basant Utsav and lots of seminars.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose to do an M.A. in English Literature because I have always been very passionate about Literature. There were a total number of 15 Professors in our department and more than 50 students in each section. All the faculty members in my department were highly educated and possess P.HD degrees. We had a semester system with each semester occurring at an interval of 4 to 5b months. There are papers of 40 marks and an internal examination used to be taken before each semester. The standard of the papers was extremely high and it was pretty difficult to pass if one doesn't study meticulously.

Campus Life

University of Calcutta, College Street Campus is famous for its library and collection of books. There were a lot of rare books available in the library. The book return policy was a little difficult but otherwise, the library is beautifully adorned with rare books and journals. The Classrooms are pretty big and avail a mic system. I am not really aware of the sports and extracurricular side.

Internships Opportunities

After the completion of the course, you can join a company for a limited period for an internship. That was quite an extraordinary effort from the institute I think. Students can gain experience for the future from these internships and that's a great thing.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of the study is decent and some more benefits given here is that you could give your course fees in three or four installments so it is easy for those students who are not from a rich family. A scholarship program is also available here.

The fee structure is quite good. You needed not to give all the money at once. You can take the advantage of three or four installments if you want. That's quite good for the ones who are not capable of giving all the money once. There is also a scholarship program available which is equally good for the students.

Campus Life

You need to be disciplined here as they run a very strict rule which is I think quite good. Because if you don't be disciplined then you can get out of your track. You can enjoy social life when you are free. The library here is good.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen the M.A course to learn the advanced study of English literature. Also, I am more interested to know about English authors. The college provides faculty according to the number is students. There are more than five teachers are taking classes for twenty students. The classes are taken in the native language and also in English. So that, students can understand the context easily. The exams depend on the notification of Calicut University. There will not be a constant time for each exam. But, all exams will be completed after the end of two years. It is a little difficult to pass the exam. Because most of the questions contain more than ten marks. The examination result relies upon the talent of the student.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total cost for study in two years will be 2900/rs. It is a low-cost fee for merit seat candidates. The students enrolled in management seats have to pay more fees than the merit quota. Also, an E grant scholarship is available for all merit seat students. So that, they did not enter any fees for exams. The campus didn't provide any placements or job assistance. Candidates must find jobs through online portals. The college provides seminars and online classes for students during the pandemic time.

Moreover I had the opportunity to learn and listen the words of superb teachers who in fact poured knowledge to our young minds. There were around 8 teachers and 20 students. Term exams were simple because of the guidance and assistance we got from our teachers.

On the academic level, it's a good college and always have an updated course and syllabus. Most of the faculties are better in teaching, but do not have a deep relationship with students. By making tests and self evaluation on respective studies make the students to get a clarification on themselves in it.

Remarks

It's a reputed college and also have a better teaching system. The college campus is the most stunning thing for me and it attracted so immensely and made me to get in there. I felt the college and its entire system have a particular standard and provides complete safety and hope in academic life.

Campus life was not so enjoyable. The authority has to be less strict. They should try not to burden the students with their religious measures. The students are forced and threatened in the name of religion. That should be strictly avoided. And the use of mobile phones should be allowed.

Campus Life

Infrastructure is not upto date. Food service in the canteen not at all appreciable. The service of Library is average. The space in the campus is wide. The ambience is really soothing except for the trains and airplanes that passes by, its causing noise pollution.

As a PG student, our exposure to events was quite low. (as teachers said we have to study). Miss All Saints Day and College days are quite important in college and you can see their grandeur. Students participated in quite a lot in these functions. Exposure to degree students to these functions is a lot. Also, the student union played a major part in managing an event. They worked a lot for bringing a variety to the functions.

Course Curriculum Overview

Some teachers were able to complete the curriculum, while others were not too bothered to do so. M. com faculty and Environment Studies faculty are quite good on the academics side. English department teachers are really good teachers. Bit they don't come often in classes, which leads to extra classes at the end of a semester. This made us students feel frustrated as most of us study during the exam holidays.

Ques. How is the English MA course in IGNOU University?

● Top Answer By Padmini Alina on 20 Oct 22

Ans. It is extremely convenient to pursue an M.A. in English through IGNOU. The only problem is that the course materials are delivered very late. However, you are not required to rely on or wait for the materials. Because the materials remain the same year after year, they can be obtained from anyone who has already completed the course or from used bookstores. To be honest, the material isn't much help. In fact, guidebooks are more beneficial because they also provide you with the previous year's question papers, which are extremely helpful in understanding the exam question pattern, and once understood, you are guaranteed to score above 55% on your first attempt. You have five years to complete your course, which consists of eight credits, four in the first year and four in the second. It is mandatory to submit the assignment for the paper you wish to sit for during the exams, which are held twice a year. It is entirely up to you whether to take all exams at once or spread them out over all ten semesters. In short, if you are determined, you can complete your master's degree in two years by taking two papers each semester. Contact classes are scheduled; if possible, attend them as they will get you started on your preparation and keep you motivated.  Doing some research for your assignment and attempting to keep your answer original rather than copying from the guide will increase your chances of getting good grades on the assignments. If you fail a paper in the semester exam, you have the option of retaking it in subsequent semesters until you achieve a passing mark. So, get the reference books, analyze the question pattern, turn in your assignment, and begin studying for the exam.Read more

Ques. Is EFLU, Hyderabad good for pursuing an M.A. in English, if one has gotten a degree in English from DU? What is its ranking among the top universities for humanities?

● Top Answer By Vinit Ghose on 15 Jul 21

Ans. EFLU is an exclusive university for English. There are 29 departments, out of which 20 are in English. With so many micro-specialties, pursuing an MA in English from EFLU is a great option. The university gives a lot of freedom in choosing subjects in post-graduation. Post-graduation applicants get a pool of subjects to choose from in their degree at EFLU. EFLU conducts only one entrance test for admission in all streams. If you clear the entrance test you will get the chance to choose whichever subject you want to pursue. You can either choose all subjects from one department only or select subjects from several departments if you want to have a mixed degree. Even, you are allowed to change subjects till two weeks of the course. The linguistic department of EFLU is very famous all over India, because of its quality of education. It has a world-class set of faculties in the department, along with an extensive library for helping students in their coursework. The literature department of EFLU is not as good as other central universities in India. Although there are excellent professors here too, the scope for students in literature is limited. Considering the quality of the linguistics department in EFLU, it is a great option for English graduates. Because of the cafeteria system of choosing subjects, there is a lot of diversity in the department.Read more

Ques. How do I write a good answer in the exam of a Master of Arts English MEG at IGNOU and other universities?

● Top Answer By Anu Mehta on 03 Nov 22

Ans. Here are two of the major points that are helpful in writing a good answer in the exam for an MA in English: The answer must start with an excellent introduction to the writer and the text. Then, there should be good content, sticking to the point. The answer must end with an eminent conclusion.  The answer must not be written in a storytelling way. Students are supposed to answer what the question is asking them to explain, the theme, the character, and the point of view attached to the question. Whatever answer students write, it must be revolving around giving proper reasons, perspectives, and possible central ideas that a question is trying to ask. The answer must not be diverting and stretching, without providing any appropriate conclusion.Read more
