CET was the criterion for me choosing my college. I wrote CET, and based on that, I got a seat in KNSIT. And hence, when CET placements for colleges were going on, I chose KNSIT. CET, management quota, and some other quotas are the eligibility criteria to get into our college. The process is to simply write the CET and clear it, and get admission into one of the engineering streams, or pay more money and get a seat via management quota or normal general quota.

The College Life Of A Bangalorean

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

Computer science in engineering was booming at the time I passed out my 12th class so I joined it. Since technology especially software part was at the peak and really booming this made me choose CSE. The curriculum is really very vast and exhaustive. You can't study everything to the point and also implement what you have studied. In 4 years you can only so much as part of your syllabus that helps you clear the final exam and get good CGPA, probably above 7.5 CGPA. Either the duration of engineering must be increased or the syllabus reduced because it is next to impossible to Study everything within the stipulated time frame and also think about implementing it or understanding what we have learnt and were we can apply it. Smart boards need to be implemented by faculty, instead of the old chalk and black board approach. This will save time, make us understand the concepts in a comprehensive manner and also in a better way. Pictorial representation of topics and concepts are far more memory retaining than just words. Exams and tests are conducted at the appropriate time so that's good no need to correct anything exam conduction wise or the question wise. The syllabus needs to be precisely mentioned so that out of syllabus questions are less and we only study that which is within the syllabus. Exam questions are decent enough and some do make you think, however none are that difficult.

Total fees structure of the course

Was a long time ago hence I don't remember exactly. Rs.50,000/- for course and close to Rs.20,000/- as tuition fees or college fees. So total Rs.75,000/- per year. 75,000*4= Rs.30,0,000/-. So 3lakhs for the degree completion.

Various events and library of the college

Only one festival was conducted which is Ganesha Festival. Other than that it's the college annual day, sports and ethnic day. Annual day some trophies, medals etc are given to toppers, sports winners etc and there's some dance and other cultural activities. Library was good and had the latest editions and course relevant books. Though not many but enough for atleast 5 students to borrow and study from at a time. Nothing awesome or amazing within the classroom, no projectors or blue screen etc. only a green board and chalk with broken benches.

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

Pretty good faculty. Faculty to students ratio was also good. Every subject had a faculty and the teaching was organised. The exams and tests conducted were helpful in clearing the final exam conducted by VTU. The faculty were jovial with the students and were in friendly terms with us. All the faculty were experienced and helpful. Not many students would fail the subject. Only a few would fail. Teaching wasn't excellent but good enough to clear the exam and with a little effort and consistency we could get distinction.

Admission process and eligibility criteria of the college

CET was the criteria for me choosing my college. I wrote CET and based on that I got a seat in KNSIT and hence when CET placements for colleges were going on i choose KNSIT. KNSIT was near to my home and the locality of the college was also good and decent hence I chose it. CET, management quota and some other quotas are the eligibility criteria to get into our college. Process is simple wrote CET and clear it and get admission into one of the engineering streams or pay more money and get a seat via management quota or normal general quota. Via CET there is a cutoff and it varies year to year based on the difficulty of the exam conducted that year other than this there's no cutoff for other admission ways. Scholarship quota also is there and some get into the college by getting some scholarship while they were studying 12th, so fees is also less for these students.

Various facilities available in the campus

Gym was broken and very few equipments so it was never really opened. It was always closed and it collected dust while completed my 4 years of engineering. The cafeteria was okay and had some decent food. The college vicinity was peaceful and in a good area so not many disputes, fights or quarrels. Greenery within the college campus, though not much but enough to get good vibes. Good hotels near the college to eat during lunch period and the transportation was good enough as there were frequent buses and the bus stop wasting next to our college so not much to walk to. Hostel was good but not that great. Smelly at some places and a little old building wise.
