University Of Petroleum And Energy Studies, Dehradun popularly known as UPES Dehradun was established in the year 2003 by the UPES Act of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. I chose UPES School of law, Dehradun, because it it is my hometown Dehradun and it was thus on my priority. secondly I couldn't make it to Nlu therefore I thought of it. Except it's hefty fees structure everything is good. Therefore consider joining it only after reviewing the latest fee structure. The admission procedure is easy as you can apply online and you have to give an entrance test and qualify it. You can also attain merit scholarship on the basis of your 12th marks

- Staff is always available, approachable and helpful
- Library resources and online library with all the resources to help students.
Dislikes
- Not providing attendance for emergency cases.
- Portal is always down at the time of important events

A reason I took admission in this university was because of its market value and it's placement opportunity and percentage of everyone also the alumni who all are currently in some top tier firms and companies. As I was not able to crack clat so I thought upes a next best possible option

- Infrastructure of the college is pretty good as the cleanliness is maintained.
- Location at which the college is located is absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing.
Dislikes
- Placement process of the college is somewhat disguised as there are strict rule that once a student is placed he/she will not be able to sit for companies again.
- Some teachers are not that much qualified which results in the unclear concepts among the students.
Admission:
I choose this college for its outstanding infrastructure as there are numerous labs in each department of the college which are fully functional and cleanliness is well-maintained. The education delivered by the college is worth the money.

- The campus life is very lively like we had events , fest , activities a lot and people who like to engage in this kind of facilities is very good for them which help them to meet new people if you like to be out going person
- UPES chapters and clubs are one of the highlights which I feel many haven't talk but it's great for exposure and working nature where you can meet many different kind of people with different mindsets
Dislikes
- Make sure you are with right kind of group and make sure people doesn't effect you as some people around can really effect you .
- After 1st year you may not get incampus hostel and if your parents want you to stay in and unfortunately you may not get it again as 1st year will get priority first and sometimes finding outside may cost more

I also got lette rform SRM , bennete , thapar university, etc. Upes has amore diversity in CSE as many college don't offer the speclization you want major in but that kind of diversity upes have that may differ in Many other colleges. To many college my offer got rejected based on your jee main result. UPES also have their own examination they take based on MCQ based , also they accept 12th result and jee result as well. If your have great results in 12th and jee then no need to give an exam. The exam is quite simple and if you basically have an average result in your 12th and jee you can definitely enter here as sometimes things goes on first come first sever bases .

Comparing it with other colleges it has more specialisations, strong placements in energy sectore, specialised labs, it has partnerships with foreign universities. Eligibility criteria varies by prgram, B.Tech requires 10+2 with 50% aggregate in PCM or through jee. Entrance test is there UPESEAT, UPESMET, UL-SAT for different courses. direct admission will be on JEE mains, CAT, XAT or good academic performance. you can submit application through online.

this was the first college i applied to and got in cause there is an eligibility criteria of above 50% in PCM and theres an enterance too who are willing to give but its very easy to get a seat in this seat.

- I liked the fact that girls were mostly given the chances that the guys were given without partiality.
- The sports team was allowed to go to tournaments atleast twice a year for them to be exposed in the outer sports field.
Dislikes
- The cost for the sports trip would not be given by the college except for the travel.
- The ones in college hostel struggle a lot to go out after 5.

I chose this college because of it's lab facilities like many of the private universities donot have a wind tunnel of their own. But our colleve have a subsonic wind tunnel where we can test our components. And the display of real turbo engines and display of the MIG jet model fascinated me

UPES Academic Scholarships
This scholarship will be awarded to all students who apply for admission to undergraduate (UG) programs, except the Global Pathway Program (GPP), and who passed the 12th CBSE Board, ICSE Board, or any State Board Exam (listed under "COBSE"). However, only students who have met the requirements outlined below for the first year and any subsequent renewals, if applicable, will be eligible to receive this scholarship. There will only be a limited number of scholarships available.
25 seats will be reserved for the ward of Armed forces including Paramilitary personnel (Serving and Retired).
The scholarship worth up to 30% of tuition, will only be issued if the acceptance fee is paid before the deadline specified in the entrance offer letter.
The scholarship will be awarded in the range from 10% to 30% on tuition fees of 1st & 2nd semesters only.
The total number of scholarships available is up to 2700 (out of these all female students who score more than 60% in class 12th, will get scholarships).
The scholarship will be given in the order of Merit.

UPES Bonafide Uttarakhand Student Scholarships
If the students are Uttarakhand Bonafide residents, they are eligible for a 30% concession on tuition fee subject to fulfillment of the following conditions and submission of supporting documents:
- ‘Sthai Niwas Praman Patra’ Certificate, along with the admission form
- Income Certificate (proving that your gross family income is not more than INR 12 lakh per annum, along with a copy of the last income tax return filed).
UPES Fellowship for M.Tech & M.Des Students
- A stipend of up to INR 12,400 per month for as long as they can remain registered with the university will be considered for students enrolled in the M. Tech program in the academic year 2024–2025 who have a valid GATE score of 75 percentile and above.
- All Students will also be eligible to avail a grant up to a sum of INR 50,000 towards outcome-based research as per rules and regulations framed for the purpose by the University.
UPES Scholarships for MBA
- All applicants to conventional UPES MBA courses, except the Global Pathway Program (GPP), who have completed graduation from any accredited university test (listed under AIU) are eligible to be considered for this grant. However, only students who have met the first-year requirements outlined below will be eligible to receive this scholarship. There isn't another renewal. There are just a few spots available for the scholarship.
- Scholarship recipients will receive 20% of their first and second-semester tuition; however, the scholarship will only be granted if the acceptance fees are paid by the deadlines specified in the entrance offer letter.
- The total number of scholarships available is up to 75 seats. The scholarship will be awarded as 20% of tuition fees of 1st & 2nd semesters only.
- There is no renewal as it is applicable for 1st year only.

UPES Scholarship Based On Academic Performance
For Second Year Onwards: The academic scholarship policy is applicable for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The scholarship will be awarded to 10% of the total students enrolled in each of the programs or 1 student whichever is higher. The 10% will be rounded off to the nearest next number. The scholarship policy for the year 2024 is based on the meritorious performance of the students in the academic year 2024 is as under:

UPES Alumni Scholarships
The scholarship is applicable on only a 50% tuition fee waiver for the full duration of the program. Under this scheme, no other scholarship will be offered or clubbed with this scholarship. No alumni fee will be charged and the renewal of the scholarship for the subsequent year will be only based on attaining a minimum of 8 SGPA /CGPA with no backlog and no disciplinary cases registered or reported against the student. The eligibility for this scholarship is:
- Applicable to all Alumni who graduated from 2019 onwards. For any Alumni who graduated before 2019, the Department of Alumni Relations will present the case to the scholarship committee for special approval.
- Alumni have to meet the notified eligibility criteria for AY 2024-25 for the respective programs.

UPES has introduced a new scheme of providing scholarships for talented sports persons. This scholarship started with the aim of developing a sports culture in the university. The criteria for new and existing students are tabulated below:

UPES Employee Ward Scholarship
- The employee will be eligible to get the fee concession for 2 children.
- Amounts equal to 75% of the semester cost (including tuition and academic service fees) for the first year of the program will be covered by the fee concession. The employee will pay the remaining portions of the cost directly.
- For continuing 75% of fee concession in the subsequent years, the ward of the employee, the ward shall ensure that he/she is not involved in any disciplinary case and will have to abide with all the rules and regulations of the University.
- For the duration that his or her ward is enrolled in the University's program, the Employee will remain employed by the University. The ward of the employee will be responsible for paying the full amount of fees due to the university once the employee leaves or is terminated from employment.
UPES Employee Sibling Ward Scholarship
- The sibling of the employee will be eligible to get the fee concession for 2 children.
- The fee concession will be given for an amount equivalent to 50% of the Semester Fee (Inclusive of Tuition and Academics Service fee) of the program for the first year. All other components of the fee will be paid directly by the sibling of the employee.
- For continuing 50% of fee concession in the subsequent years, the ward shall ensure he/she is not involved in any disciplinary case and will have to abide with all the rules and regulations of the University.
- If the employee resigns or is terminated from the services, the ward of the sibling shall be liable to pay the full amount of fee payable to the University post his/her exit from the University.
