Placement Experience:
If you are studying MBA, you are eligible for the placement process once you reach the second year. Companies come to visit starting from the month of August. There is a record of 100% placements in the college course and companies like Morgan Stanley, Juspay, Digit, Wells Fargo, ICICI bank, Deloitte, Accenture strategy, etc are a few of the many reputed ones.
Every student can expect a decent placement after completing the course.

The students are eligible for final placements from the third semester, and summer placements, from the first semester.
Some of the companies who visited include Tiger Analytics, Accenture Strategy, Axtria, Barclays, Deloitte, Infosys, and ZS. On average, almost 30+ companies visit every year.
The highest package for the 2020-22 batch stood at 22 LPA and the average package was 16.61 LPA.
MBA IIT Kanpur had 100% placements last year.
My plan after getting my degree is to work in the domain I love the most and that is marketing, I want to be a part of famous marketing campaigns, create great ones that people remember, and work for brands that are known for amazing marketing campaigns like Nike and Amul.

Usually, the plan of all students is to get placed have some corporate experience, understand the domain, and industry in depth and then look for better opportunities or go for a startup if they have a great idea.

The highest package for 2022 was 22 LPA and an average of 16.6 LPA. Diverse profiles are offered. There is 100% placement. I plan to do a job in a good company after graduating.

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
