- The best thing about IITK that seperates it from other IIT's is the amount of freedom; many courses have no attendance policy, there are no time restrictions in campus, boys can stay in girls hostel and vice versa(except 12-6 am)
- The quality of the hostel for freshers(hall 13) is top notch, too good mess, wifi speed is so good. In first year, the courses are commmon for everyone and the relevance of the courses is such that students get exposure of various branches
Dislikes
- The freshers hostel and hall 12 is very good but the quality of other halls which are mostly old since 90's is not upto the mark. Like there's problem of insects, wifi, room space, water
Placement Experience:
There are 2 things- Internships and Placements. internship tests are during start of your 3rd year and 2 go for internships at start of 4th year. For placement you have it at the end of your 4th year. Around 400/1200 get placed in internships and around 800 get placed on campus. On day 1 you get top companies for internships as well as placements such as Microsoft, google, quadeye,jlr,goldmann saccs, itc,optiver top companies offer intern of around 4-5 lakh per month with all expenditures and for placements top companies give around 50 lpa. Those who are not placed on campus apply off campus on the basis of their resume and skills, the college has ANC council which provides addition intern and placement opportunities apart from the companies on campus and also there are enough POR's to build ur skills and resume

After sixth semester from seventh semester onwards students become eligible for placements. Variety of companies come like SDE, core, analytics consulting companies. No of offers made are approximately 1000.

- The campus is full of greenery and its onw sanctuary

- The area is very huge but is not used efficiently
- The greenery can be reduced for further development
Placement Experience:
Being in a reputed college the placement is very good and my course being from CORE has less average package but you can easily get placed for Software development if you code regularly and are determined.

- IIT Kanpur is known for its rigorous academic programs and excellent faculty members who are experts in their fields.
- The institute provides ample opportunities for students to engage in research projects across various disciplines.

- Like many technical institutions in India, IIT Kanpur has been criticized for its lack of diversity in terms of gender, socioeconomic background
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course of the curriculum here is too amazing all the faculties are too experienced and too good but when we talk grading IIT KANPUR gives the worst grading upon all other engineering colleges the frequency of timing of exams here we have midterm examinations for 2 hours and endterm examination for 3 hours and also we have in between small quizzes which also includes in final grades.

- I like swimming and there is a pool available
- I like dancing and there is dance club available

- I don't really like the grading policy of my college.
- There are many irrelevant courses present which I don't find any use of.
Placement Experience:
Placement is very good. Companies like Amazon, Adobe, oracle, Microsoft, optiver, tower research etc come to hire students. They offer a very high package. The average package of my college is 1500000.

- The main reason to love my college is , here they are very opportunities for getting success in various ways and they will teach us high competitive level.
- There is more security for the girl's and giving more importantance to students.
Dislikes
- The academics in iit kanpur is very tough and the grading system is aslo very high level of Marking
- Keeping CPI criteria for everything . Like particularly in some clubs, students elections.

Placement Experience:
In my college, the placement is overall good. The students placed in this course, the placement percentage in this course, between 75%, the highest package offered between 30lpa, and the lowest 2.5lpa. The average package is 3.5lpa, and the top recruiting companies are TATA, MAHINDRA, BHEL, etc. The highest package in our campus is 8.2 crores. 75 percentage of the students on our campus will get campus placements.

- sports facilities-- exposure at all level of nation in games from college side

- grading system was too tough in campus which depends on proffessor.
- class timings are too different from different college.
Placement Experience:
Placements are good enough for an average student in campus.Eligible after 3rd second semester and before that the candidate need to be done some or the other internships for quick recognition in placements. MICROSOFT,RELIANCE,TATA PROJECTS,ICICI BANKS,NPCL,INTEL,QUALCOMM and so on., as per this year we got 986 offers including 22 international offers. Highest package is 1.90 cr per annum and average is 26.7lakhs per annum and companies offered MICROSOFT,TEXAS,NAVI and QUALCOMM. 90 percentage of students getting placements. plans after degree is having startup plans for further.

From the seventh semester students become eligible for campus placement. many companies visit every year for placement like Google tesla microsoft Flipkart the highest package is around fifty lahks per anum around eighty per cent of students get placed I want to become a ias officer

- I just love my campus life . There are many fests which makes it very enjoyable.
- Infrastructure is very nice . Campus area is very large . Mostly all the facilities are available here

- Academic is little tough. I don't like the Very Competitive environment.
- Their is nothing to dislike in infrastructure
Placement Experience:
In 4th year, 3rd semester students become eligible for placements. There is a body named SPO (student Placement Cell) responsible for internship and placements. Placement seson starts from first week of December. Their are two phaases of placemnet season .Big Companies like Bain, Niva Bupa,Orchid , Glean etc comes in the campus. 300 plus companies comes in the campus for placement. Average package of 1st phase is approx 26LPA. In 2023-24 , highest internationl offer is of 4 crore per year. Highest domestic package is approx 2 crore per year. For me, I am preparing fofr Data Scientist profile.

- I liked the clubs, sports , gym and the other extra-curricular activities.
- I also liked that all the classrooms are air conditioned.
Dislikes
- I disliked that there are not enough sports facilities in hostel itself
- I also didn't like the penalty system for late message bill payment.
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for placements from their seventh semester. A lot of companies such as Google, meta etc come to the campus. The highest package can go up to 4 crores per year and almost 80% students are getting placement.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?
Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
