The BA course spans six semesters, each lasting six months, with a mixed faculty quality. While some faculty members are nurturing, others face time management issues and may show favoritism. Sikkim students enjoy free education, whereas out-of-state students pay a semester fee of 700 rupees and an exam fee up to 4000 rupees. Exams per semester include two sessionals of one hour (25 marks each, passing marks 7) and an end-term exam of two hours (50 marks, passing marks 33).
Students failing their exams can reapply the next year for a fee of 500 rupees. Scholarships like the Chief Minister Scholarship and Ishan Uday Scholarship are available based on merit. Students do not pay monthly fees but must pay a lab fee of 100 rupees. An additional 100 rupees examination fee per subject may be required if the student does not have a Sikkim subject.
