- Sikkim University is inviting applications for PhD Admission 2024 based on UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, CEED, GATE, ICMR-NET, DBT-NET, ICAR-NET etc. scores. The last date to apply is Nov 1, 2024. The written test for Non-NET Subject will be held on Nov 10, 2024 and the entrance test for all respective departments is scheduled for Nov 11, 2024. Further, the first list of the selected candidates will be declared on Nov 13, 2024 and the classes will commence from Nov 27, 2024.
About Sikkim University
Sikkim University is a central university located in Gangtok. Established in 2007, the university is recognised by the UGC and ranked 151 among top 2000 universities in NIRF 2023 rankings. The permanent campus of Sikkim University is built at Yangang in Namchi district, about 56 km from Gangtok.
Sikkim University offers UG, PG and PhD programs across schools of Human Science, Language and Literature and Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Professional Studies and Social Sciences. Admissions to the 65 UG, PG courses across 7 schools of study is based on the NTA's Common University Entrance Test (CUET). Sikkim University Admission
Sikkim University admissions are completely online. Candidates seeking admission to UG and PG programs must appear for the CUET UG and CUET PG examinations, respectively. Registrations for admission at Sikkim University usually start after result declaration of the CUET examination in the month of June or July. Shortlisted students based on the CUET scores will get the call letter for the Counseling session. Selected students have to present at the Institute for Medical Checkup and Document Verification on the given date. Pay the Admission fee online to secure admission

Sikkim University Scholarship
Sikkim University provides scholarships for students enrolled with financially weak family backgrounds. To get the scholarship, eligible students have to apply the prescribed form along with their parent’s income certificate to the office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW). Foreign students are not eligible for this scholarship.
Sikkim University provides scholarships to students who fall under the SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ NER category. The students have to submit an online application through the UGC portal or a different Ministry portal. There are various scholarships under this scheme as follows:

Sikkim University has an ample amount of facilities like a central library, health center, Gym and Transport facilities for students, throughout the year.
- Central library - fully automated and equipped with modern infrastructure and services required in a digital environment. With a website and application to access books online. Sikkim University has over 50,000 printed books and e-books in the collection.
- Health Centre provides Medical facilities to the students, teachers, and employees of the University and their family members. They have different services in the Health Centre such as Outpatient Clinics, Emergency facilities, Inpatient facilities, Dispensary and Emergency services
- Gymnasium is fully equipped and open 6 days a week for students and staff. The gym has different shifts that have been maintained for male and female users. There are respective gender trainers in the gym to monitor and provide continuous supervision to the gym members. The university provides free bus service to its students at fixed intervals
- Hostel - Sikkim University has 9 hostels: 5 for boys and 4 for girls with well-maintained infrastructure and an affordable fee. The application for accommodation at the hostel can be made online at the time of filling out the online application form and accommodation is provided based on merit, availability of seats. The students from the areas in and around Gangtok are not eligible for hostel accommodation. Students must attach a residence proof with the duly filled hostel application form. Ans. There is 75% mandatory attendance at Sikkim University as per the university rules and regulations and in affiliated colleges there will be 75% mandatory attendance for the students.

Ans. The permanent campus of Sikkim University is 300 acres at Yangang in the South District of Sikkim. The campus will be fully residential with administrative-cum-academic complex, residential complex, student hostels, sports complex, Health Centre and market complex with restaurants, departmental stores and other utility stores.
Ques. Is there any refund policy if a student withdraws admission?
Ans. Yes, Sikkim University will refund the fee as per the provisions notified by UGC in October 2018.
- 15 days or more before the formally- notified last date of admission, 100% of fees will be refunded.
- Less than 15 days before the formally notified last date of admission, 90% of fees will be refunded.
- 15 days or less after the formally notified last date of admission, 80% of fees will be refunded.
- 30 days or less, but more than 15 days after formally notified the last date of admission, 50 % of fees will be refunded.
- More than 30 days after formally-notified the last date of admission, 0% of fees will be refunded
Ques. What is the reservation policy at Sikkim University?
Ans. Sikkim University gives relaxation to reserved categories such as SC/ST students. Students belonging from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes get 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria. Moreover, seat relaxation will be given according to the Sikkim High Court order of 2016, to ST, SC, OBC and Unreserved students. Additionally, students belonging to physical disability get 10% seat reservation in every course and class.
Ques. Does registration cost at Sikkim University?
Ans. Yes, The cost of registration for Sikkim University for admission is INR 1000 for General, INR 750 for OBC and EWSs candidates and INR 500 for ST/SC/PWD candidates and shall be paid through online payment gateway by Debit Card / Credit Card or any other forms of digital transactions.
Ques. Do Sikkim University buildings have facilities for handicapped students?
Ans. Sikkim University has adequate facilities for physically challenged students. For instance, it has lifts and grams for personnel with disabilities in more than 80% of the buildings. Similarly, it has specially designed restrooms for handicapped students. Transport facilities or wheel chair facilities are also provided to the needy students.

Ques.What is the center for Coaching SC/ST/OBC/Minority Students at Sikkim University?
Ans. The Centre organizes coaching of about three months duration twice in a year keeping in mind the timing of CBSE-UGC-NET / SLET examinations which are normally held in the months of June and December. The method of coaching takes place in the form of class work, tutorials, assignments, face to face interactions, group discussion. Audio-visual methods are also used wherever required. This coaching is absolutely free of cost for the eligible students.

- Teaching method is very good but some teachers are not serious and doesn’t take class but few teachers they are very much concern for our studies.
- No i,am not engaged in any college activities because there are more than a thousand students they are already there

- I don’t like the college washroom because its very dirt and no body maintains it
- Some teaching methods of teacher not experienced also
Admission:
I choose this college at least this one is better than other i have seen in my state because only in this college we have varieties of subjects we can choose from humanities to science commerce and botany psychology but in other college there is only and or two streams and they have no option they have to study. The admission provision are also easy because the name of the students gets college according to the percentage of class 12 those who score more than 65 only they can opt here

- Faculties who are DU and JNU graduates and all have completed their PHd. The mentor we get for dissertation during the final semesters is beneficial for the students.
- The couse also include a subject of Remte Sensing and GIS.
Dislikes
- The rented campus on the highway area in the town.
- The new Sikkim University campus is being build in Yangyang South Sikkim.

I applied to this particular course because only Sikkim University provided Masters of Arts in Geography all over Sikkim during the year 2019. The admission process was a written entrance , but as of now CUET is mandatory for admission to UG and PG couses in Sikkim University

- I like the faculty of our college, they are highly qualified and excellent in teaching.
- The library because it offers a lot of books which we can use.
Dislikes
- The washroom of our college is not hygienic.
- The college compound is also not that clean in some places.
Admission:
I choose this college because it offered the course I wanted to pursue. It also is affordable for me and family because it is handled by government so I only need to worry about my domestic expenses. Students documents and class 12 % are required for the eligibility to pursue this college.

- Huge Infrastructure of the campus including various ways to refresh yourself during free time
- Common room for boys and girls to play games like table tennis, chess,carrom board.
Dislikes
- Really unhygienic washroom no maintenance at all
- Searing capacity in cafeteria was less as compared to the number of students

I applied to two colleges in sikkm i.e Nar bahadur bhandari degree college and Burtuk govt college. No i did not get rejection on either of the college. The admission process is really simple as we have to have 60+ in class 12 in order to get admission in this college.

- Big campus and great surroundings (lovely college located in the centrw of the city
- Proper guards situated in entrance resulting in better security towards the students

- Unhygenic washroom really dirty and full of smell that could lead to various harmful diseases
- No ambulance in the initial year but as an ancident happened the ambulance was provided
Admission:
I choose this college beacause it is one of the best college in sikkim and is a reputed college among the other colleges and is also located in the heart of the city. I did not apply to other college i only applied to this college,as it was far from my house and it had been an amazing experience living far from home. I had a lot of exerience living all by myself,this helped me to understand how to live in a society, about what types of people you face. Admission process is very simple we just need 60% or above in class 12 to secure a seat in this college. And if we have certificate of identification (COI) then it is very easy and simple to get your name in the merit list of the college. We did not have to appear for entrance exams but the 2022 batch had to appear for the entrance exams inorder to get admission in this college.

- The college is known to be number 1 government college around sikkim and it is very old college and know by everyone..... Due to old it need to be maintain and reconstust it like
- There is no facilities like white board, they still use black board with chalk

I also applied at Sikkim Government College, Burtuk and got selected there. But I had choosen this college as this college is nearby my locality and is also easily feasible for us. The admission process was easy and it was based on marks rather than any entrance exam.

Firstly the Tadong collage is the heart of all the Government collage been running in the entire state of sikkim because of the strategic location and by seeing the convenience of the people and students in and around the entire state. Second reason maybe due to the good faculty and the environment and also due to the more options given for the students as we can see they are more than 10 department in the college which includes Geograph department ,political science department, sociology department ,history department IT Department and many more

I didn't apply in many colleges since I missed my jee main enterence exam but i did appear for CUET exam through CUET I had apply for many colleges but I took addmision here and here no more criteria is required to get addmision

- The campus is not so big and have to manage in chaios.

I have applied at Sikkim Government College, Kamrang. But I went to Sikkim University because OF the specific subject I wanted to choose. The admission process was not so hard and admission cell was also very polite.
