first impressions

the yearly academic fees for session 2024-25 was 3,55,000, in which 5000 was security deposit . the registration fees 1000 is included in the fees . there are various kinds of scholarships available for students like merit cum means (ews), pcm %> 90 then 40 % concession on course fees , 40% concession on course fees for Jee mains rank below 2 lakhs , divyang scholarship , sikkim home quota scholarship,lateral entry scholarships.

So yearly we have to pay 8 lakhs rupees and our campus is big enough it provides us with so many sports to play basketball football and environmet is really nice but one thing I don't like about my collage is there ain't much people from my community,so speaking to the point our lab fee is not much it's 15 hundred each lab and we have total of 10 subjects at third sem in which we have 3 labs 7 theory subject so speaking of tution fee I haven't joined any tution so no fee and semister registration fee is 600 which we have to do for semister exams so there are not much extra pointless fees on our collage and ya if u need to join some clubs you have variety of clubs like singing club , event organizing club , science club etc speaking of science club in this club we can make our own science related projects different type of what we say useful devices simple type of roborts cars and all. As per reservation for SC st OBC and general ya it applies here for SC there is major reservation they have lots of benefit as compared to the OBC and general after SC ,ST is the second to have much privilege in our collage they have lots of consideration on different field and all by the way I fall on OBC category so ya i don't have any benifits hence I don't know much about these things . We usually pay same amount of fee but some of my friends are from schedule tribe or Schedule cast catogary so they have to pay less than us obviously , where we have to pay 66600 rupees per month they have thirty percent off percent off

There are a lot of exams, with the college following the same old system followed by most engineering colleges.

A small overview of SMIT

At the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), the fee structure varies by course and category (e.g., Management, General, SC/ST). The total course fee of four year BTech course is approximately INR16.2 lakhs which breakdowns to 4,05,000 per year The fee breakdown is as follows: Tution fee- INR 3.2 lakhs( it covers everything such as laboratory fee,examination fee etc) Caution deposit - INR 5000 (one time, refundable) Hostel fee - varies as per the room selected ( INR 47000 - double sharing room and INR 67000- single sharing room) Mess fee - INR 86000 per year SC/ST and Other Categories: Students from SC/ST categories get a 20% concession. Students gets financial aid and scholarships as per merit . Based on two categories - boards , jee percentile . I received a scholarship of 40% on my tution fee as per my jee percentile . Overall View of my College

Examination are hard and competitive for an engineering College.

Fees for my Course is 340000 and for Hostel and Mess it is around 130000. So in Total I pay 470000 Yearly. There is also a refundable deposit of 5000 after the admission. There are numerous PG around college.

SMIT a good option Option for collage If searching something near Northeast India.

Some of the HOD's are not soo friendly . Pressure is more than other collages becz there are more tests conducted and within short duration unlike other collages .

* Fee Structure for General Class (No Scholarship) 1 year:- 345000 * For Students from Sikkim they get special Sikkim scholarship which reduces the total Tutuion fee by 50% * There are multiple scholarships provided to students based on Govt schemes , Jee Results , CBSE Boards Reasults and many more

The annual fee for BTech in CSE is 3,70,000 and the campus is really good, the placement is good, the teachers there are very helpful and there are a lot of facilities. If you are going on an IT field then it's the best college I can recommend it is located at a very nice place beside the river

Life of SMITians!

The fees is so expensive. It is not affordable for middle class people.

Rhe college fee is bit expensive. But we get scholarship for BPL category and State Quota. In my case the fee is ?1,00,000/- per semester which includes my tution fees, lab fees, etc. Few of my SC/ST friends are even getting more relief on their fees. Overall it is a bit expensive college.

My admission and life at SMIT

The college provides multiple fee waiver schemes based on your previous academic achievements and other criteria. Also one can avail state quote in case of Sikkim State Students. I got 40% fee waived due to my marks from UG Diploma, I think the criteria has been updated now but still such schemes do exist.
