MET 2026 (Manipal Entrance Test) is a university-level online Computer-Based Test conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) for admissions to B.Tech, B.Pharm, and other undergraduate programs at its four campuses — MIT Manipal, MIT Bengaluru, Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ), and Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT). The exam was held in two phases: Phase 1 on April 13-14, 2026 and Phase 2 on May 23-24, 2026, with both results declared and a consolidated merit list released on June 8, 2026. As of June 30, 2026, MET 2026 counselling is in Round 3, with seat allotment results released today at counseling.manipal.edu.
- Round 3 First Installment Fee: Candidates allotted a seat in MET 2026 Round 3 must pay the first installment fee between June 30 and July 4, 2026 to confirm their seat. Non-payment by July 4 leads to automatic seat cancellation, and the seat moves to Round 4.
- Round 2 Balance Fee Deadline: June 30, 2026 is the last date for Round 2 allotted candidates to pay the balance tuition fee. In MET 2025, hundreds of seats were released to Round 3 after candidates missed this deadline.
- Round 4 and 5 Counselling: MAHE is expected to conduct up to two more rounds in July 2026 for remaining vacant seats. Dates will be announced on counseling.manipal.edu after the Round 3 payment window closes on July 4, 2026.
- Physical Reporting and Classes: All admitted candidates are expected to report to their allotted campus in August 2026. In MET 2025, physical reporting at MIT Manipal began in the first week of August, with classes commencing shortly after.
What is MET 2026 (Manipal Entrance Test)?
MET stands for Manipal Entrance Test — a university-level Computer-Based Test conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, Karnataka. It is the primary admission gateway for B.Tech engineering programs at MAHE’s four campuses. More than 1 lakh candidates registered for MET 2026, competing for approximately 3,000 B.Tech seats spread across all campuses.
What makes MET stand out is its merit formula: your Class XII board marks carry equal weight to your entrance test score, with the merit rank computed as 50% MET score plus 50% XII aggregate. A strong XII percentage can compensate for a moderate MET score and vice versa.
MAHE also accepts JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 scores as an alternate qualification for B.Tech admissions. Candidates with a valid JEE Main score do not need to separately appear for MET. Both MET and JEE Main pathway candidates compete through the same online counselling portal at counseling.manipal.edu.

MET 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
MET 2026 is a 2-hour online Computer-Based Test with 60 questions totalling 240 marks. The paper includes two types of questions — Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. MCQs have four options with one correct answer and carry negative marking of -1 for a wrong response. NAT questions require typing a numerical answer and carry no negative marking, so you should attempt all NAT questions even when uncertain.
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Mode | Online – Computer-Based Test (CBT) |
| Duration | 2 hours (120 minutes) |
| Total Questions | 60 (MCQ and NAT) |
| Total Marks | 240 |
| Marks Per Question | 4 marks each |
| MCQ Negative Marking | -1 for wrong answer |
| NAT Negative Marking | None (0 for wrong answer) |
| Unattempted Questions | 0 marks |
| Medium | English only |
| Exam Slots | Slot 1 at 9:00 AM, Slot 2 at 2:00 PM |
Subject-Wise Question and Marks Distribution
| Subject | MCQ Questions | NAT Questions | Total Questions | Total Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 15 | 5 | 20 | 80 |
| Physics | 10 | 5 | 15 | 60 |
| Chemistry | 10 | 5 | 15 | 60 |
| English | 10 | 0 | 10 | 40 |
| Total | 45 | 15 | 60 | 240 |
For B.Pharm and B.Sc programs where Biology is the qualifying subject, the Mathematics section is replaced by Biology (same structure: 15 MCQ + 5 NAT = 20 questions, 80 marks).
Mathematics carries the highest marks at 80, making it the most scoring section for B.Tech aspirants. English, at 40 marks, is entirely MCQ-based and tests grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Since there is no negative marking on NAT questions, attempt all 15 NAT questions to maximize your score even if you are not fully confident of the answer.

MET 2026 Result and Merit List
Both MET 2026 phase results are out. Phase 1 result was declared on April 17, 2026 and Phase 2 result on May 26, 2026. The consolidated merit list — which combines Phase 1 and Phase 2 scores (best of two) with Class XII marks using the 50:50 formula — was released on June 8, 2026, alongside Round 1 seat allotment.
How to Download MET 2026 Scorecard
- Visit manipal.edu and navigate to the Admissions or MET section
- Click on "MET Result" or "Scorecard Download"
- Log in using your registered email and OTBS (Online Test Booking System) password
- Your subject-wise scorecard will be displayed; download and save the PDF
What the MET 2026 Scorecard Shows
- Subject-wise marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and English
- Total score out of 240
- Qualifying status
- All India Rank (on the rank card, released separately from the scorecard)
How the MET 2026 Merit List Rank is Calculated
The consolidated merit rank uses a 50:50 formula. Your MET score (best of Phase 1 and Phase 2) is normalized to 50 marks. Your Class XII aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject is normalized to another 50 marks. These two components add up to a combined score out of 100, and candidates are ranked in descending order. In case of a tie, the candidate with the higher MET exam score gets the better rank.
For JEE Main pathway candidates, the JEE Main Paper 1 score is normalized to the same 50-mark scale before the merit calculation. This means a JEE Main candidate with a very high score can rank ahead of a strong MET candidate if their XII marks are also high.
MET 2026 Counselling Process
MET 2026 counselling is conducted entirely online at counseling.manipal.edu. MAHE does not hold any walk-in or offline counselling sessions. You should always use only this official portal and never trust agents or consultants who claim to secure MAHE seats through unofficial channels.
Counselling Registration Fee
- One-time counselling registration fee: Rs. 10,000
- This fee is refundable if no seat is allotted to you in any round
- If allotted a seat, the Rs. 10,000 is adjusted against the first installment of tuition fees, so you do not pay extra
How Counselling Works (Step-by-Step)
- Step 1 — Register: Log in to counseling.manipal.edu and pay the Rs. 10,000 counselling registration fee during the registration window of each round
- Step 2 — Fill and Lock Choices: Select and rank your preferred campus-branch combinations. Lock your choices before the deadline — late or unlocked choices are not considered
- Step 3 — Seat Allotment: MAHE runs the allotment algorithm. The higher your merit rank, the better your chances of getting your top choice
- Step 4 — First Installment Payment: If allotted, pay the first installment within the deadline to confirm your seat. You can also choose "Upgrade" to keep the current seat while being reconsidered for a better option in the next round
- Step 5 — Balance Fee Payment: Pay the remaining tuition balance by the second deadline
- Step 6 — Document Upload: Upload scanned copies of required documents through the portal
- Step 7 — Physical Reporting: Report to the allotted campus in August 2026 with original documents for final verification

Choice Filling Tips
- Fill as many campus-branch combinations as you can — typically up to 20-25 options are allowed
- Put your most desired option at the top and include progressively lower-preference options further down the list
- Always add some lower-cutoff options (such as MUJ Jaipur branches or SMIT Sikkim) toward the end to ensure you get a seat if your top choices are unavailable
- Choosing "Upgrade" when paying the first installment lets you try for a better option in Round 4 without forfeiting your current seat
MET 2026 Seat Allotment
MET 2026 seat allotment has been conducted in three rounds so far. Round 1 and Round 2 results were released on June 8 and June 20, 2026 respectively. Round 3 results are out today, June 30, 2026. Rounds 4 and 5 are expected in July 2026 for remaining vacant seats. MAHE uses your consolidated merit rank and your locked course-campus choices to determine seat allotment in each round.
How the Allotment Algorithm Works
- The algorithm begins from Rank 1 and assigns each candidate their highest available choice from their locked preference list
- If your top-choice branch at your preferred campus has no vacant seat, you are assigned your next available choice
- Candidates who accepted a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 and chose "Upgrade" are reconsidered in the next round — if a better option opens, they get the upgrade; if not, the original allotment holds
- Seats vacated by candidates who did not pay the fee deadline are returned to the pool for the next round
Documents Required for Physical Reporting (August 2026)
After completing all fee payments, you must physically report to the allotted MAHE campus in August 2026 with the following (originals plus two photocopies each):
- MET 2026 Rank Card and Admit Card
- Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate
- Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate
- Transfer Certificate
- Migration Certificate (if moving across states)
- Conduct Certificate (original or principal-attested copy)
- Valid Government Photo ID — Aadhaar Card preferred
- Parent’s PAN Card
- 6-8 recent passport-size photographs
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable
- Allotment letter downloaded from counseling.manipal.edu
- Fee payment receipts for all installments and the counselling registration
If your Class XII marksheet is not yet available at the time of campus reporting (for board results declared late), a principal-attested provisional marksheet is temporarily acceptable. You must submit the original as soon as it is available.

MIT Manipal is consistently ranked among India’s top private engineering institutions, with strong industry connections and placement records — especially for CSE, ECE, and AI branches. MIT Bengaluru offers the same MAHE curriculum in an urban tech-hub setting. MU Jaipur is a good option for students who prefer studying in North India with a large, well-connected campus. SMIT Sikkim has a smaller, more intimate campus environment.
No external institution outside the MAHE group accepts MET scores. The score is only valid for admissions within the four MAHE campuses listed above.
MET 2026 Marks vs Rank
Your MET merit rank is not based solely on your MET test score — it combines your MET score (50%) with your Class XII aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject (50%). This means two students with the same MET score but different XII percentages will get different ranks. A student who scores 160 on MET with 95% in XII can easily rank higher than someone who scored 180 on MET with a 70% XII aggregate.
The table below shows approximate merit rank ranges for different MET score bands, assuming Class XII marks of around 80-85%. Your actual rank shifts depending on your XII percentage — higher XII marks improve your rank for the same MET score.
| MET Score (out of 240) | Score Percentage | Approximate Merit Rank Range* | Typical Options |
|---|---|---|---|
| 190 – 240 | 79 – 100% | Within 500 | CSE, AI, Data Science at MIT Manipal |
| 170 – 189 | 71 – 78% | 500 – 2,000 | CSE, ECE, Maths & Computing at MIT Manipal |
| 155 – 169 | 65 – 70% | 2,000 – 4,000 | CSE (borderline), ECE, VLSI at MIT Manipal |
| 140 – 154 | 58 – 64% | 4,000 – 6,500 | ECE at MIT Manipal, CSE at MIT Bengaluru |
| 120 – 139 | 50 – 57% | 6,500 – 12,000 | Mechanical at MIT Manipal, CSE at MIT Bengaluru |
| 100 – 119 | 42 – 49% | 12,000 – 20,000 | Civil/Chemical at MIT Manipal, CSE at MUJ Jaipur |
| 80 – 99 | 33 – 41% | 20,000 – 35,000 | MU Jaipur branches, SMIT Sikkim |
| Below 80 | Below 33% | 35,000+ | SMIT Sikkim or limited options |
*Ranks are indicative based on MET 2025-2026 data, assuming 80-85% Class XII aggregate. Candidates with 90%+ in XII can expect their rank to be roughly 10-20% better than the estimate shown for the same MET score. Actual rank depends on the cohort’s overall performance distribution.
Preparation Tips for MET
MET 2026 is over, but this section helps candidates planning for MET 2027. If you are currently in Class 11 or early Class 12, you can start your MET preparation now alongside your board exam prep — the syllabus overlaps almost entirely, so you will not be splitting your study time.
Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy
- Mathematics (80 marks — highest weightage): Focus on Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Algebra, and Probability. Solve at least 30-50 practice problems per topic. NCERT solutions are the foundation; Arihant or Cengage for advanced practice. Timed practice is essential since you have only 2 minutes per question on average
- Physics (60 marks): Prioritize Mechanics, Electrostatics, and Modern Physics. H.C. Verma’s Concepts of Physics (Vol. 1 and 2) is the go-to for conceptual clarity and problem-solving practice. NCERT Physics is essential for theory
- Chemistry (60 marks): NCERT Chemistry is sufficient for Inorganic and most Physical Chemistry topics. For Organic, understand reaction mechanisms rather than memorizing. O.P. Tandon works well for Physical Chemistry problem practice
- English (40 marks — entirely MCQ, no NAT): Daily reading of English articles and newspapers improves comprehension speed. Focus on grammar rules, synonym-antonym vocabulary, and para-jumble techniques
Exam Strategy Tips
- Attempt NAT questions last — since they carry no negative marking, even a guess at the end costs nothing
- Do not spend more than 3 minutes on any single question; move on and return if time permits
- Appear in both Phase 1 (April) and Phase 2 (May) since MAHE uses the better of your two scores
- Solve at least 3-4 MET previous year papers under timed conditions
- Because 50% of your merit rank depends on XII marks, never compromise board exam preparation for MET. A 5% improvement in XII aggregate can shift your merit rank by 1,000-2,000 positions

Ques. Does MAHE accept JEE Main 2026 score for B.Tech admissions?
Ans. Yes. MAHE accepts JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 scores as an alternate qualification for B.Tech admissions. You do not need to separately appear for MET. Ques. How is the MET 2026 merit list rank calculated?
Ans. MAHE uses a 50:50 formula: 50% weightage goes to your MET score (best of Phase 1 and Phase 2, normalized to 50 marks) and 50% to your Class XII aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject (normalized to 50 marks). The final merit score is out of 100, and candidates are ranked in descending order. In case of a tie, the candidate with the higher MET exam score gets the better rank.
Ques. What is the MET 2026 exam pattern?
Ans. MET 2026 is a 2-hour online CBT with 60 questions totalling 240 marks.
