Course Description
SMU Sikkim MBBS is offered as 4 Years 6 Months Full Time program, with total intake of 150 seats. The minimum eligibility criteria for MBBS is 10+2 with 50% + NEET. The total fees for SMU Sikkim MBBS in 2025 is ₹ 75.17 Lakhs for the complete course duration, which includes total tuition fees of ₹ 74.8 Lakhs. Earlier, the fees in 2024 - 2025 for MBBS was ₹ 75.15 Lakhs.
SMU Sikkim MBBS fees in first year is ₹ 19.05 Lakhs. The detailed fees is mentioned below.

Sikkim Manipal University MBBS Admissions Guidelines
Admissions to the program are given based on the candidate’s performance in the qualifying exam and the entrance exam. Admission is done online.
How to Apply?
- The candidates must apply online for the MBBS course by visiting the official college website.
- The students must provide the required documents for the admission process
- The candidates will be selected and contacted based on their performance.
- The selected candidates must be physically present for the counseling procedure set by the university.
- Following the counseling procedure, candidates will be contacted to pay the admission fees and complete the admission procedure.

The state of Sikkim has a reservation of 80 seats where 50 seats are free funded by the government of sikkim for students holding sikkim's COI and 30 are full fees i.e, 17 laks per year. There are 70 other seats for other states

The fees that I pay for the college are 1800000 lakhs per year, it can be paid in instalment (they take interest in case of installment payments) ; the fees are okay for a private medical college
The fees are same for students except the ones receiving government scholarship
The students from Sikkim itself can opt for the state scholarship while the students from outside Sikkim can opt for the central scholarship

The fees are different for everybody as there are different categories like Govt. Sponsored for Sikkimese Domicile students whose fees is regularised by state govt. And only applicable to Sikkimese students then Northeast Quota & General Quota whose fees are almost similar after that there's Management Quota whose fees are very high.
Tuition fees remins same for the old batch like through out the entire course that's basically 4.5 years and only increases for the new batch onwards except for the hostel fees which increases a little every year.
I was in Management category so I paid around 19 lakhs per year for 4.5 years followed by registration fees of 20k then rest amount of 1lakhs on hostel fees so total roughly roughly around 90lakhs everything was done.
Well there's no scholarship for other students except only for govt. Sponsored students that's basically for Sikkimese Domicile students.
Campus is small but big enough for everything so far since it's a hill station afterall.

General quota:17 L per annum
Management quota: 32L per annum
Sikkim quota has 2 kind of seats:
1) State top 50: 7L per annum ( now free)
2) Rest 30: 17L per annum
Recently from 2021 100 MBBS seats have been increased to 150 out of which,
1) 80 seats for Sikkim Students (50 free+ and 30 paid seats),
2) 50 seats for (general+management+army students quota),
We will also get a stipend during an internship for 1 year (12k per month as of now).

Course Curriculum Overview:
The medical commission of India is replaced by NMC and yes many updates and changes are brought in the syllabus amd curriculum. Before staarting with syllabus, we were given exposures to all the laboratories and also we had foundation class which was a new concept, we were basically taught about ethics of aa medicaal professionals and other things. All the faculties are very good.

Fee is moderate. Neither too expensive nor very feasible. My fees was 3.5L per year for my 5 years MBBS course. But if you put more thought on this, you can easily save scores of money which could have been spent had you been living in a hostel or P. G.

A loan facility is given and there must be some kind of scholarship and yes I have friends here from Sikkim. Specially have to give fewer fees as compared to others and also get got many other scholarships.
