The Life at the most prestigious Instititute (IIT BOMBAY)

Likes

The students team here in IIT BOMBAY is very good. The seniors are ready to help in anything you want.
The campus is also peaceful and filled with greenary. You wouuld definitely enjoy the place here.
The infrastucture is pretty good but not that good.

Dislikes

The lecture halls are far from the hostel so it will take atleast 30 mins to walk.
The professors even though are good at the subject they lack the ability to explain it clearly.
The classes are really huge, which makes the class always distractive.

I chose IIT BOMBAY mainly because i was getting Electrical Dual Degree only here, But also chose it explicitely because of the clubs in IIT Bombay and also the opportunities to do whatever we like than the lecture, unlike other colleges.

HONEST AND REFLECTIVE

Likes

professor are knowlegeable and supportive with strong academic and research background.
campus is vibrant with diverse clubs, fests and engaging peer interaction.
infrastructure is excellent with beautiful hostels, labs and classrooms.

Dislikes

The girls to boys ratio is low and especially in core branches.
core placements are limited for some interdisciplinary departments.
The academic workload is high especailly during exams.

Admission:

I choosed IIT BOMBAY over all other IIT's and other college becuse it offers more exposure to new ideas and experience. also i was alloted the branch Environmental science and engginering and it properly alings with my intrest. since many other college do not offer this course. and since i am from maharashtra, it is more comformtable for me.

Likes

So many events, no only fests but competions are also held weekly for many things. Each competetion teches you something new.
The curriculum and research opportunties are outstanding.
Tech teams, gives you hands on experience and also you if you have any innovative idea yoyu can try it out.

Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is 1 to 4. Could have been better
Some games like free fire or pubg does not run on the wifi. You need a VPN to run such games.
Some time mess food is not tasty but you still have canteen.

Admission:

Well I already had the college(IITB) in my mind before starting the preperation of JEE mains. I cleared mains and Advanced with a little bit of hardwork and luck and got admision in aerospace department.

This is the top most IIT which provides placement approx 23 lpa.
Asia's biggest cultural event is organised by our college.
This is in Mumbai so various fields are open.

Dislikes

Far from home and whether is very humid and Harsh.
Since Mumbai is a very expensive place so it is bad for students.
Hostel closing time is 10:00 p.m. which I personally don't like.

I got this college after JEE advanced examination and my rank was about 1500. I have interest in mechanical engineering and this is the top most engineering college in India so I choose this college. There is no personal interview for GD round to get admission.

Likes

The boys to girls ratio is now 4:1 which which is a significant improvement from the past
The infrastructure is world class and constant improvements keep taking place continuously.
There are various student and faculty mentorship programs, to ensure that the mental and physical health of the students is taken care of.

Dislikes

The hostel culture in girls hostels is pretty less. The involment and engagement and bonding of boys hostel has improved.
The course curriculum is too rigourous, and needs a lot of effort for outstanding results.
The salaries data that comes out is not 100 percent true, 1/2 people get these super high packages and rest are average and a bit above.

Admission:

Since I got IIT Bombay, this means that all other IIT s were open to me, my trade of was between college and branch, I was confused if i should take CSE in a new IIT or Chemical in IIT Bombay,, and I chose the institute, also because I reside in bombay. And i feel others should also choose a better college if they are not 100 percent sure about what course they really are passionate about.

The amount of resources iit bombay provides is awesome.
The professors clarity over the subject they teach and their intuitive explanation skills are good.
The clubs and tech teams provide deep domain knowledge and keep us constantly active in some or the other events.

Dislikes

The hostel services can be improved and also the mess food .
There can be more interactive sessions so that the students are able to know each other.

I applied for other iit's also but choose to stick with iit bombay because of the amount of resources , clubs , tech teams and the professors here. I did get rejected from iiit hyderabad which has a separate entrance exam , it is mainly because I was underprepared The addmission process for my college is through jee mains followed by advanced Jee main percentile should be above 94 for qualifying for advance and to choose my course you advance rank should be below 2200

Mess food:- different types of food provided, even we have snacks in evening
Hostel room:- rooms are larger then average room, contains table and chair also
Medical facilities:- you can use medical facilities free of cost.

Dislikes

Transport:- sometimes we not able to get perfect Transport for travelling to nearest station
Internet problem:- sometimes full internet got shut down
Cleaning problem:- sometimes workers not able to keep hygiene properly

Admission:

I applied for different college like iit delhi mathematical and computing but my jee rank not came as expected. After getting less marks i thought to chose aerospace cousre which is better in iit bombay so i chose this college. Admission process is completely through online protal done by jossa after getting Admission later only you have to come to college a small procedure happens and then all set your a student of iitb

IIT bombay was my first priority. The college has some of the best professors in the country and is consistently ranked as number 1 indian college in qs world ranking. The students are admitted mainly based on their jee advanced ranks, also the design students from uceed.

I personally very crazy about his behave i never see he making any issues regarding the late fees with any one this is the most important

I have nothing much to say about negatives, still the size of the class rooms and all should be little more big

classes are very big. the professors are excellent and everything you have learnt will be tested atleast once in 2-3 weeks.
quality of the infrastructure is excellent and no other indian colleges have been this much beautiful.
asia's largest techfest and cultural fest happen here which describes the brand of of the college.

Dislikes

as per some reports we are hearing that placements are being reduced.
girls to boys ratio is 1:4 which is a disappointment according to me.

this is the best college in india and the branch i have chosen is somewhat comprimisable so i had to go for the best college so i had kept this as my first option. so we can only get in through only through joint entrance examination(jee) advance.

To get CSE in IIT Bombay, you need a JEE Advanced rank of 60 if you belong to General Category. This rank keeps getting lower every year. If you are certain of studying CSE at IIT Bombay, then start studying without further hesitation. In case you are still not sure, I have a friend's experience that might help you make the decision. He was interested in Mechanical and was not sure about CSE. With a rank of 70, he went for Mechanical Engineering.

Now there is a course at IIT Bombay that is compulsory for all freshers. The course comprises the fundamentals of Computer Science. Once he studied that, he became certain that he wanted to pursue CSE instead and requested a branch change. In fact, I know many who changed their branch after becoming aware of their passion and inclinations. So you don’t have to necessarily make a decision right now, and can always avail of the branch change option later on. But make sure to make an early decision. Also if your JEE rank is average then you can always change your branch later on. However, an important thing to keep in mind is that this branch change option is possible only if your first-year CGPA is up to the mark.

The IITs are funded by the Government so it has complete authority to give admission to anyone. The teachers or the students are not the stakeholders in the case of IITs. It is the Government that pays the teachers' salaries and installs the various facilities. The Government is at complete freedom to decide who can come into ITs and who needs a push in the form of the reservation to join ITs.

The aspirants know beforehand that the Government has set such rules according to its own discretion. No one is forced to give the exam and you can always choose any other option if you think it’s unfair.
