3000 JEE Advanced rank for IIT Bombay — be realistic about this:

IIT Bombay is the most competitive IIT and at 3000 general rank, most flagship programs are beyond reach:

  • CSE at IIT Bombay typically closes around rank 50-100 for general. far out of reach at 3000
  • EE, Mech, Chemical, Civil — all close in the 300-1200 range for general. not accessible at 3000
  • what might open at IIT Bombay at 3000 general: Energy Science & Engineering, Metallurgical, some interdisciplinary programs in later rounds. these close in the 2,500–4,000+ range

realistic options at 3000 JEE Advanced general:

  • IIT Delhi — Maths & Computing, Engineering Physics might just open
  • IIT Roorkee — ECE, EE, Chemical available
  • IIT Kharagpur — several branches open
  • IIT Guwahati — CSE, ECE available

to get IIT Bombay's main branches at 3000 rank you'd need to be OBC (category rank ~900-1200 for CSE) or SC/ST. if you're general category, check JoSAA closing ranks from 2024 for IIT Bombay specifically — you might get some interdisciplinary programs but not core engineering. 3000 general is IIT Roorkee/Kharagpur level for good branches, not IIT Bombay mainstream.

To answer your question, yes, you can get into IIT Bombay with Rank 3000 in your JEE Advanced. But you’ll have a limited number of stream options, and you won’t get into the CSE or Electrical branch. If you are eligible for female-only, or other category seats, your choices might improve.

Securing a rank of 3000 in JEE Advanced is a commendable achievement, and it will open up a wide range of opportunities for you in terms of college choice. With a rank of 3000, you have a good chance of getting admission into IIT Bombay, but you may not get your desired domain.

With this rank you can get admission in these specialisations at IIT Bombay:

  • Environmental Science and Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science

You can visit the official JoSAA website to check the previous year IIT Bombay branch wise cutoff for B.Tech Admissions- https://josaa.admissions.nic.in/applicant/seatmatrix/openingclosingrankarchieve.aspx
