IGNOU PGDPPED FAQs
Ques. Is PGDPPED from IGNOU recognised for teaching jobs in pre-primary schools?
Ans. IGNOU's PGDPPED is recognised by all AIU member institutions. However, for government pre-primary teaching positions, recognition may depend on state-specific norms and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines. Candidates are advised to verify with the concerned state education department or school management before applying for specific teaching roles.
Ques. What is the project component (MESP-085) in PGDPPED and how is it evaluated?
Ans. MESP-085 is a practical project worth 16 credits - the single largest component of the programme. Students are required to undertake hands-on work in a pre-primary school setting, observe children, plan and implement activities, and submit a project report. Evaluation is done by IGNOU-appointed supervisors at the Study Centre.
Ques. Can I pursue PGDPPED without any prior teaching experience?
Ans. Yes, PGDPPED only requires a graduation degree in any discipline. Prior teaching experience is not mandatory. The programme is designed to train fresh graduates as well as upgrade the skills of in-service pre-school teachers.
Ques. Is PGDPPED available in Hindi medium?
Ans. As per the official IGNOU programme details, PGDPPED is offered in English medium only. Students who prefer Hindi medium should check the latest prospectus on the IGNOU website, as medium availability may be updated.
Ques. How is the project work managed in distance mode?
Ans. The project (MESP-085) requires students to work with a pre-primary school in their locality. Students are assigned a supervisor at their Study Centre who guides them through the project. Students must submit observation records, activity plans, and a final project report as part of the evaluation.
Ques. What is the career scope after completing PGDPPED from IGNOU?
Ans. After completing PGDPPED, graduates can work as pre-school teachers, Montessori educators, Anganwadi supervisors, early childhood education coordinators, or curriculum developers for pre-primary institutions. The diploma also helps in setting up and managing private play schools and kindergartens. With the growing emphasis on early childhood education under NEP 2020, demand for trained pre-primary educators is increasing significantly.
