IGNOU B.Sc Physics Course Details

The institute follows a credit-based system for its B.Sc. programme. Each credit amounts to 30 hours of study.

The physics BSc. Program at IGNOU ranges for a duration of 3 years to 6 years.
A student needs to complete 96 credits to get a B.Sc. degree in B.Sc. Physics. The 96 credits are distributed over three categories as given below:
- Foundation Courses: 24 Credits
- Elective Credits: 56 to 64 Credits
- Application Oriented Courses: 8 to 16 Credits
A student will not be allowed to earn more than 32 credits in a year.
Students are evaluated based on continuous evaluation and term-end examinations. Students need to pass both these evaluations to earn their respective credits.
The assignments carry a weightage of 30% and the term examinations carry a weightage of 70%.

Assignments constitute continuous evaluation. The marks that you secure in the assignments will be counted in your final result. As mentioned earlier, an assignment of a course carries 30% weightage. You are therefore advised to take your assignment seriously.

Non Submission of Assignment

The TMA for each semester can be downloaded from the Student Zone of the University website. You have to complete the assignment within the due dates specified in the assignment booklet. You will not be allowed to appear for the term-end examination for any course if you do not submit the assignment in time for that course. If you appear in the term-end examination, without submitting the assignments, the result of the term-end examination is liable to be canceled.
