It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

The courses offered here are very broad and vast enough to complete all the competitive exam syllabus, you need not purchase any other course for your GATE or other engineering exam preparation, these courses are enough
The campus is almost about 1400 acres. So it consists of everything you need in your day to day life, groceries,food stalls,sports kit shop,mobile and laptop repair shop,barber shop,ATMs,cycle repair shop and much more
The faculties here in my mechanical engineering branch are like God gifted.they are too good in all aspects, friendly behaviour, excellent teaching, approachable

Dislikes

The zonal game played over here is the worst part. You can't get anything if you don't get support from your zone. They have divided the entire campus into various zones like north zone, UP zone,Bihar zone, South zone etc etc
There are other branches like EE and CS where the professors are totally mad, friends of mine have stated they feel like curse studying under them
The mess food , it can be a lot improved, although it's good compared to other colleges, still it's oily,too much deep fried, sometimes raw

As I mentioned earlier the best aspect of this curriculum is that you need not lift extra time for your competitive exam preparation, if you pay attention in classes and follow the course curriculum and the recommended books, that itself is self sufficient to get you through any exam.so very well does the curriculum prepares us for real-world applications and further academic pursuits. We have a semester of 3 months.(90days) In 45 days span we have midsem and endsem

NIT Rourkela campus facilities.

Likes

The whole campus is a lush green campus with great infrastructure and facilities.
Sports facilities and college fests are really impressive.
The boys to girls ratio in the campus is around 4:1

Dislikes

The location of the campus is not really in the city area.
The attendance policy in the campus is very strict.
Some of the buildings of the campus is very old.

The placement records of NIT Rourkela is really impressive. Students can apply for placements from the seventh semester. Multinational companies like Amazon and Google have recruited students from the campus. The average package offered is 12LPA.

Comprehensive Review of NIT Rourkela

Our campus is really huge, full of lush greenary . Rourkela , as a city , is quite peaceful and beautiful. The weather can be a little extreme during the peak summer and winter but otherwise it is quite good.
The campus life is very exciting. we have over 50 different clubs catering to everyone's interest and we have 4 fests every year. We celebrate all the Indian festivals in our campus. The sports facilities are excellent.
The placements and internships that students from our college get are quite above average. The highest package goes upto 96 lakhs per annum, with the average being around 12-14 lakhs pr annum. maximum students get placed in pretty good companies .

Dislikes

zonism is very prevalent inside the campus with people forming groups among themselves based on the state/place they belong to.
The attendance policy is very strict with the requirement of 85 percent attendance. The academic rigor is also a bit more as compared to the other colleges.

Placement Experience:

I believe that the placements and internships provided by my college are very well above average. Being an institute of national importance and one of the top NITs, our career development cell makes sure to get every student opting to sit for placements, and get a job offer to the best of their abilities. They hold regular sessions on various domains to help us choose one out of them and then guide us to move forward in our chosen domain by helping prepare our resumes giving us resources and making us practice group discussions, aptitude questions, and interviews. Then the internship season starts at the end of the 4th semester as we all do a compulsory internship after our 6th semester. and placement season starts from the end of the 6th semester and continues till the end of the 8th semester. Many of the students who get an on-campus internship offer, get the pre-placement offer after their internships. Companies like Google, Texas Instruments, Oracle, Tata, Accenture, fractal, PWC, ZS etc come to our campus. The highest package is about 98 lpa while the average is 12- 14 lpa across all the branches. more than 90 percent of the students sitting for the placements get placed.

Maintenance is very well in my hostel and campus
Nit Rourkela has almost every sports facilities with coaches.Especially Olympic sized swimming pool.
Faculties in Nit Rourkela are well qualified and not too bad behaviour

Dislikes

Junior senior interaction is not so good .
Curfew timing is for first year Btech students (9.30 pm)
Double rooms are provided in first year despite of room has single occupancy

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester students are eligible for placement and in 5th or 6th sem some students may get PPO. I don't know the all companies name but some are apple , Microsoft,Amazon, groww ,blue yonder,the assualt group many companies are there. And total of approximately 1400 offers are made in all sectors. Average package of nit Rourkela is 13 lpa and highest is 120 lpa last year . Approx 85-90% students got placed. Pllams is simple after degree is getting a good placement.

Quite quilified academic faculties also supportive in every aspects.
Since BTech is considered as very expensive degree but here it seems quite affordable.
Huge campus availability.you will find everything within the campus. Huge hostels with a ton of facilities like gym, badminton court,100mbps wifi connection etc

Dislikes

Here girl to boys ratio is very poor. But this doesn't have any effect on college academics.
More than 50 percent of students are form home state , which i does not like at all
Food is good but there is slight issue with one particular mess

6th semester onwards students become eligible for campus placement . Companies like google , Microsoft, facebook, Wipro, nestle, amul, grow etc visited and they made around 980 offers . Highest package got is 83.6 lpa and average package is 13.89 lpa. Percentage of students getting placements is 84percent. My plane doing something big in core .

My Experience as a student at NIT Rourkela

Likes

Annual cultural and techfest and placement assistance almost 100% placement
Good infrastructure as it was spread over more than 1000 acres and labs were good fully funded by central government guest lectures were organised with faculties visiting the campus even from US, UK Japan etc
Hostels were cleaned regularly so hygiene was maintained

Dislikes

No airport if you are from norther region such as Delhi you will have to book a train ticket no alternate
Train journey would take almost 12 hours sometimes even more if train is delayed
No Diwali break only Durga Puja break so need to plan things accordingly as you have to stay there for 4 years if you plan to do bachelors

Placement Experience:

Placement is good almost all of my batchmates got placed through on campus, only people with no communication skills suffered and they also got placed within 6 months of graduation. Placement is not an issue some even had multiple offers.

one of the most beautiful thing about nit rourkela is it's campus which is 2 largest engineering college in india in terms of area
overall placements are very good ,many big companies come
professors are good and they help us in studies

Dislikes

strict attendance policy which is 85 percent
due to large campus classes are far away from hostel . you have to buy a bicycle

Nit Rourkela- the best of all.

Likes

Very big campus and full of greens. With friendly surrounding to roam around.
Seniors and mentors are very friendly and very helpful. No ragging in the campus.
Hostel blocks are nices and academic is fantastic with high tech infrastructure.

Dislikes

As very big campus, the distance from hostel to class are around 1.5 km and only cycles are allowed.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good in both core and non core. Technical companies are frequent with good packages and most of the students get placed or opt for further studies. Companies like microsoft and good often visit and many of core companies also visit.

It is a very big campus and you would need cycles for travelling in it.
The infrastructure, labs, teaching facilities are very good
Many companies come here for placements for all branches

Dislikes

Cycles were required to travel no other motor vehicles allowed for students inside the campus
The companies are less for lower branches
The course is too vast and is covered within a small limited period of time

Placement Experience:

The placements here are pretty good and many companies do visit here taking maximum of the students. Many companies come for higher branches like CSE, ECE, EE, ME. Students are eligible for placements from final years

Nature of the campus is just great. Good environment

As i said my branch is biomedical engineering. There is not much placements for biomedical engineers.if you study software or some coding especially python, dsa it will be helpful for placements. We can sit for software companies also

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
