- The college campus is very friendly and there is zero tagging policy that is maintained throughout campus
- There are multiple canteens at affordable rates for students within the campus and there are good amount of discounts for students in restaurants outside campus
- Other amenities such as saloons, stationary etc are all within distance for students
Dislikes
- Traveling outside the campus is a bit pricey
- Some of the infrastructure in the halls aren’t maintained
Course Curriculum Overview
In india the courses are pretty outdated. Personally the first year we are forced to learn subjects which we will never be using so I would suggest that you should learn many of the things in your own. Where as for relevancy, it's pretty outdated but the point of an NIT is the to get exposure of different students and Their ideas
Internships Opportunities
Some of the companies that offer intternships in NIT Rourkela are Deloitte Afcons Bajaj Reliance Tata steel The college also gives summer internships to various other disciplines. Some of the companies give students Pre placement offers (pop)
Placement Experience
But the placement in my college are really good all students who get a CHPA of seven or above can sit for Amazon and Microsoft placement and for Google it is 8CGPA and they check your projects and works and everything this yearthe average package went about 18 LPA for computer science and many of the students to get placed highest was 1.2 CR this year
Fees and Financial Aid
per semister I will be having to pay around 1.1lakh Tuition fee is about 62,500 Mess fee is about 30,000 Hostel rent is 5000 There is a caution deposit of 10,000 which is refundable at the end of the course They take a medical fee of 2000 And a student activity fee of 2000
Campus Life
The annual tech first is called innovation, where alot of the celebrity is also come and give Ted talks. There is a large accessibility of books and journals available in the library everything between from finance to quantum physics. Sports is heavily pushed here from badminton grounds to cricket Stadiums and volley ball courts and there are many many social groups and clubs and a student portal as well as even counseling support club
Hostel Facilities
The first year room comes with two beds and if your lucky 2 tables as well. There aren't any cupboards just groves in the wall and shelves made. It's a small room enough for 2 people. The mess meals are okay okay nothing too fancy it gets the job done. The hostel costs 5000 per sem and 30000 is for mess
Admission
The the main reason why I chose this is because it has a NIRF ranking and quality students is really good again it's about the exposure you get in college and not about the studies. I had to write J EE exam which is joint entrance exam all over India and cut also incredibly high for computer science to get a rank of 2000. I had even applied to Warangal and to trichy but I choose Rourkela the location of it to be in north
Faculty
Faculty in all colleges are somewhat the same, some are good and some are pain for students but it's best to just keep doing your business and study properly. The exams aren't too difficult but I would recommend to start studying atleast 2 weeks prior to your exams. The correction again depends from subject to subject and upon the teachers as well. There are mid sems and end sems and some teachers take class tests to grade your internals or give assignments to grade them
