Middlesex University Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students
Eligibility at Middlesex University combines an academic requirement with an English-proficiency test. For Indian applicants, Class XII marks or a Bachelor’s degree from a UGC-recognised institution meets the academic side, and the English side accepts IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, and Duolingo, plus a Standard XII English waiver from most CBSE and ISC boards. Nursing, midwifery, and social work programs run a higher English bar.
Academic Floors for Middlesex University
- UG general entry: Class XII at 50% minimum from CBSE, ISC, or state boards.
- UG competitive courses: Law, Engineering, and Nursing typically ask for Class XII at 60% or higher.
- PG general entry: Bachelor’s degree at 50% minimum, equivalent to a UK 2:2 honours.
- PG MBA entry: Bachelor’s at 55% (2:2 upper) plus two years of work experience.
- PhD entry: Bachelor’s at 60% or Master’s, plus a research proposal.
English Language Tests Accepted at Middlesex University
| Test | UG Minimum | PG Minimum | Nursing / Midwifery / Social Work |
|---|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 overall, 5.5 in each band | 6.5 overall, 6.0 in each band | 7.0 overall, 7.0 in writing |
| TOEFL iBT | 72 overall (4 band in new scoring pattern) | 87 overall (4.5 band in new scoring pattern) | 5.0 band in new scoring pattern |
| PTE | 59, no band below 59 | 59, no band below 59 | Elevated per course |
| Duolingo English Test | 105 | 115 | Not accepted for regulated courses |
Test scores are valid for two years from the date of the exam. Middlesex accepts the IELTS One Skill Retake certificate, so a single band retake within 60 days is fine.
Middlesex University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Indian applicants can skip a standalone English test if Standard XII English marks meet the university’s requirement. The Standard XII waiver applies to most CBSE and ISC boards, but Punjab and Haryana state boards are excluded.
- Undergraduate waiver: Standard XII English at 65% or higher from an approved board.
- Postgraduate waiver: Standard XII English at 70% or higher from an approved board.
- Prior degree taught in English: A Bachelor’s or Master’s from a NARIC-recognised English-medium institution also waives the test.
Insider note: Indian applicants below the waiver mark and below IELTS 6.0 cannot use Middlesex’s Pre-Sessional English course, since UK Student visa rules block Indian nationals from Pre-Sessional and International Foundation pathways at MDX. Sit IELTS or accept an alternate offer.

Note: Indian Year 12 school leavers can enter Year 1 direct. Year 2 or Year 3 direct entry needs at least one year of relevant higher education (60 ECTS for Year 2, 120 ECTS for Year 3) with an academic reference and personal statement.
Middlesex University MBA Admissions for Indian Students
The Middlesex University London MBA is a one-year full-time program based at Hendon and delivered by the Business School. Indian applicants targeting the next cohort should focus on the September 2026, November 2026, January 2027, February 2027, April 2027, June 2027 start and apply through the Applicant Portal.
Middlesex University MBA Entry Requirements
- Academic: Bachelor’s at 2:2 (around 55% Indian equivalent) or higher.
- Work experience: Two years of relevant business or managerial experience post-graduation.
- GMAT alternative: Applicants without an honours degree or professional qualifications can substitute a GMAT score of 550 or above.
- English: IELTS 6.0 overall with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking.
- Interview: Not required for the Full-time MBA. Applicants can submit before final results are declared.
Middlesex University MBA Fees for Indian Students
International MBA tuition sits at £21,000 (INR 27.17 Lakhs) for 2026-27 start. Middlesex also runs a two-year Executive MBA and an MBA Top-up route, each with its own fee band and experience floor. For a program-by-program cost sheet, see the Fees page linked from the Postgraduate section above.
Reality check: The Middlesex MBA is a small-cohort general management program, not a Global Top-100 ranked MBA. Indian applicants using it as a Post-Study Work stepping stone should factor London job-market realities into the ROI.
Middlesex University PhD Admissions and Funding
Middlesex University London admits PhD applicants across five research faculties, including Business, Law and Social Sciences, Health and Education, Science and Technology, and Arts and Creative Industries. Indian applicants apply to an MPhil first and transfer to a PhD after around 18 months once research progress is confirmed.
Middlesex University PhD Entry Requirements
- Bachelor’s at 2:1 (around 60% Indian equivalent) or a Master’s in a relevant subject.
- Written research proposal aligned with a Middlesex research cluster.
- Two academic references and a CV showing prior research or dissertation work.
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall, or higher for research-intensive disciplines.
- Shortlisted candidates go through an interview with prospective supervisors.
Middlesex University PhD Funding for 2026-27
Most Middlesex PhD students are self-funded, but competitive scholarships exist. The ESRC-funded studentship covers tuition plus a stipend set at £22,780 (INR 28.98 Lakhs) for 2025-26 with London weighting, and updates for 2026-27. Middlesex’s internal PhD Studentships offer fee waivers and select stipends across all faculties.
Insider note: Indian PhD applicants should identify a Middlesex supervisor before submitting the research proposal. An informal email exchange with the target supervisor lifts shortlisting odds far more than a polished proposal sent cold.
Middlesex University Application Process for Indian Students
Middlesex uses two application channels: UCAS for undergraduate applicants and the Middlesex Applicant Portal for postgraduate and research applicants. The undergraduate window opens roughly ten months before the September intake, and the postgraduate window runs on a rolling basis year-round. Indian applicants can also use Middlesex’s Delhi and Chennai international offices for free application support.
- Pick your course and note the specific eligibility, English, and portfolio requirements from the programme page.
- Prepare documents including academic transcripts on letterhead, English score, CV, and references.
- Apply via UCAS (UG) using institution code M80, or through the Middlesex Applicant Portal for PG. Pay the UCAS application fee of £34.50 (INR 4,495) covering up to five choices on the UCAS route. The Applicant Portal has no application fee.
- Attend an interview or audition if your course requires one (Design, Performing Arts, Nursing, PhD).
- Review the offer, either conditional (pending results or English) or unconditional.
- Pay the tuition deposit stated on the offer letter, ranging from £1,000 (INR 1.27 Lakhs) to 50% of first-year tuition.

Middlesex University Admission Decisions Timeline
- UCAS UG decisions are usually returned within 4 to 6 weeks of application receipt.
- PG direct decisions on complete files typically arrive within 2 to 3 weeks.
- Offers hold a reply-by date (usually 4 weeks) after which unaccepted offers lapse.
- Deferrals to the next intake are considered case-by-case and require a fresh CAS.

Middlesex University Documents Required for Indian Students
Middlesex University London expects a clean, complete document set uploaded to UCAS or the Applicant Portal. All non-English documents need certified English translations from an approved translator. Original letterhead and institutional stamps are mandatory. Missing documents will freeze the application review.
- Valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity.
- Class X and Class XII mark sheets and passing certificates on original letterhead.
- Bachelor’s degree transcripts and provisional or degree certificate for PG applicants.
- English test score report or Standard XII English marks proof if using the waiver.
- Personal Statement covering course fit, career goal, and Middlesex-specific reasons.
- Two academic references on institutional letterhead, dated within the last year.
- Curriculum Vitae for PG, MBA, and PhD applicants covering academic and work history.
- Work experience letters for MBA applicants covering roles held and duration.
- Portfolio or audition file for Art, Design, Fashion, and Performing Arts programs.
- Research proposal for PhD or MPhil applicants aligned with a Middlesex faculty cluster.
Middlesex University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Middlesex University London does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place the overall figure at around 55 to 60%, with international acceptance closer to 61%, based on offer-to-application patterns across recent cycles. Middlesex is best read as a moderately selective, access-oriented university, meaning it admits most applicants who meet its stated academic and English requirements, rather than filtering purely on rank.
Reality check: A "moderately selective" label does not mean easy entry. Indian applicants still need genuinely met academic floors, correct documents, and a Personal Statement that shows clear course fit. Weak files still get rejected.
UK Student Visa for Middlesex University Applicants
Indian students admitted to a course longer than six months at Middlesex University London need a UK Student Route visa (Sub-Tier 4 replacement). Middlesex is a Home Office-licensed sponsor, so it can issue the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Indian applicants need to file for the visa. Applications open up to six months before course start. Filing early is essential because London-region biometric appointments are typically booked out.
The visa application fee is £558 (INR 71,014) and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is £776 (INR 98,730) per year of the course. IHS gives Indian students access to the UK’s National Health Service. Financial proof needs to show £1,529 (INR 1.94 Lakhs) per month for up to nine months (total £13,761, INR 17.51 Lakhs) held in the applicant’s or parent’s bank account for at least 28 consecutive days, with the statement dated within one month of the visa application. A tuberculosis test certificate from an IOM-approved clinic in India is mandatory. Post-arrival, biometric residence permit collection and university enrolment happen within the first two weeks.
2026 update: UK visa processing for Indian students typically takes three weeks from priority-service submission. Applying at least eight weeks before course start protects against document-clarification queries.
Tips for Middlesex University Admissions
The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Middlesex University London.
- Use the Standard XII English waiver where you qualify, but only if your board is not Punjab or Haryana.
- Anchor your Personal Statement to Hendon-specific facilities, such as the Grove Building or the STEAM Building, to prove course fit.
- Apply to January 2027 PG intake early if your Bachelor’s results are already out and you want a faster CAS turnaround.
- Book IELTS by August 2026 to have valid scores in hand well before the UCAS 13 January 2027 deadline.
- Pay the tuition deposit fast after the unconditional offer arrives, since CAS is issued only after deposit clearance.
- Use the Delhi or Chennai international office for free application review before you hit submit on UCAS.
- Avoid Pre-Sessional English routes, as MDX cannot enrol Indian nationals in Pre-Sessional or International Foundation programs under current visa rules.
Middlesex University London admissions reward early, complete applications from Indian students who meet the Class XII 50% or Bachelor’s 50% floors and hit IELTS 6.0 UG or IELTS 6.5 PG. September remains the primary intake, so the 14 January 2027 UCAS deadline is the anchor date to plan around.

Facilities and Infrastructure 5. Only university providing a residential trip for this course (invaluable knowledge gained from this 7 days trip)
- My college was the only college providing knowledge about up to date inventions happening in the whole world related to my course through workshops and seminars. This was the only college providing a completely paid residential trip for a whole week where we lived with our classmates from different parts of the world for 7 whole days. The way the trip was designed was absolutely incredible. I would say that the knowledge and experience that I gained during this trip makes up around 50% of whatever I had gained from Middlesex University somehow. Also, the infrastructure of this university is the best. They maintain everything really well, be it classrooms, reception, communal areas, libraries, etc.
Dislikes
- There were not many things that I disliked about my University. One of the main things was that it was in Hendon. I did not like the area that much. However, the facilities and the infrastructure at the University made up for it. I do not have any other complaints.
Overview
My overall experience at this University was really great. I am very grateful for everything that I was able to learn here. The syllabus for all the subjects was completely up-to-date which made us ahead of everyone else. The teachers were always motivated to teach new things that are happening in the university. The University supports the students financially as well. Overall- Yes, I would absolutely recommend this University in the UK!
Scholarship
Yes, I got a scholarship of 2000 pounds under the scholarship titled “International Merit Award”. I just had to submit all my marksheets and transcripts since 10th standard.

- Nothing as such!
Overview
Fabulous and Excellent. It was a wonderful experience as UK universities are completely different from all Indian universities in terms of quality or standards of education. Many different countries students come especially from Europe and Dubai (nearby ) countries to UK! Different cultures combine in UK as compared to USA and Canada.
Scholarship
I received a 1500 pounds scholarship from Middlesex University. and 20000$ scholarship from Troy University Alabama.

- Middlesex University is known for offering a wide range of specializations across various fields of study. The university is committed to providing high-quality education and preparing students for successful careers in their chosen fields.
Dislikes
- While Middlesex University has several positive aspects, some of the dislikes that I have is that the campus location as it is in the outskirts of London and even there are less social scenes and accommodation is expensive with respective to location and facilities provided.
Overview
The university is supportive in having the resources, network and different areas of specialties available to aid individual learning and achievements. I feel very supported when faced with academical challenges. There are social activities, clubs and facilities to support physical, social and mental wellbeing as the university ensures the academic journey is successfully achieved.
Overview
I initially was confused between Criminology and Forensic Psychology, I found this university was the only one that taught a combination of both. So, it was the best option for me.
Scholarship
I received a regional scholarship of about GBP 2,000 offered to me by the university representative.
Overview
The university was well established with exact course that I wanted. Had all the facilities and I had good references. Secondly, it was in good area with good crowd. All necessary transportation like bust stop and tube station was very very nearby. Overall experience was amazing. The area of university had good accomodations too at affordable prices and food availability was a big plus point. Faculty was good and the approach was amazing from university part. Library is available to students for 24 hours and so is computer lab. We were allowed to carry out experiments in lab
Scholarship
Yes. 10 lakhs by giving exams and applied directly to uni without any help from here
Overview
I was offered a scholarship, which helped a lot to pay my fees. I also really liked the course curriculum and how practical the course was, compared to another uni, which focuses more on the theoretical part.
Scholarship
Santander academic excellence award, I applied to it online through the university's website. I had to write a letter.
Overview
Middlesex was the only university which accepted me, which I was delighted. I was also ready or wanted to move out of the home town. I want to go to something different, busy, crowded and where there are more job opportunities.
