Remarks

If you want to do engineering try not to get into the college. Only top 100 national colleges have importance. Rest are there just for business to give you a piece of paper at the end called a degree. If anyhow you end up at these colleges, the only chance of making something out of it is being on your own and working very hard. You will still get chances for higher studies. Always remember skill is far more valuable than the degree in todays world.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course curriculum is very extensive with almost 5 theory papers and 3 to 4 practical papers in each semester. The course duration is 4 years with 8 semesters. Evaluation process would continue throughout the semester with assignments, internals and attendance. At the end of the semester a university exam is conducted. A student needs to clear every backlog for getting the degree. College is very strict on students attendance and if you dont want to be a college goer, don't join the college.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements start from 6th semester onwards. Companies which mostly come for recruitment are popular mass recruiters such as TCS, Tech Mahindra, Capgemini who takes almost 50% of the students (that is how a college advertises with high placement figures). Very few specialized companies visit who recruits no more than 2 to 3 students. If you go by the figures then the placement rate of the college is high and even if you are an average student, there is high probability of you getting placed.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible and at par with other engineering colleges. Full and half scholarship is also provided for economically backward students. A student can also avail for student loan. Semester tution fees is around 50k.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students can avail full or half scholarship based on their economic background. Usually they need to submit their parents IT file to avail the facility based on various criterias. Many students availed the scholarship and the process is basically smooth is one is eleigible. Students can also avail bank loan to fund their fees which is readily provided by various banks.

Campus Life

2.5

College labs are basically equipped with all equipments for every department required in the curriculum. There is no shotcoming there. But apart from that there is nothing else for any extra research. Luckily a small google lab and wipro lab was set up at the end of my fourth year. College has a basketball court, football cum cricket ground and a volleyball court. Sport facilities are minimal and dont expect any national standard.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Yes, I stayed in the college hostel. Hostel infrastructure is ok but facilities are very limited with mess, a TV, carrom and a TT. Mess food is exactly what it is called 'a mess'. There is only one boys and one girls hostel inside the campus with limited beds. Availability is based on first cum first serve. Morning breakfast is not served and you are on your own. Hostel fee during my time was 9k per semester which is currently no less than 15k. Mess charges use to be roughly around 2.5k every month.

Alumni/Alumna

Nowadays with social networking alumnus can easily be contacted and seniors are also very helpful. If you are good at buttering, your name would probably go up in most of the college events. And one need not worry about ragging. College has strict policy regarding that.

Admission

I got selected through my rank in WBJEE 2011. During that time an offline selection process used to be conducted where all participating colleges under WBUT were present. Based on the rank a student gets the choice to select his choice of college and department available at that stage. I chose AOT with IT department when my turn came. Later on I changed my department to CSE in 2nd year of the college based on WBUT changing criteria of scoring more than 8.5 CGPA.

Faculty

2

Most of the faculties are average with only a few with indepth knowledge of the subject. Engineering is highly professional stream and the there is no limit to the amount of knowledge one can gain. Frankly speaking, one need not be dependent on the faculty here. Be on your own if you want success.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
