Course Curriculum Overview

3

Basically, at my rank I was electrical, though I wanted electronics, but electrical is also like 60% same. The core electrical placements are based on your curriculum, if you are a scholar then u can manage to get 15 lpa in core. You will be decently prepardd for real world electrical engineering. The course can really improve a lot by including practical knowledge, we just keep writing and copying assignments and files which at the end go for recycling, everyone knows the reality but still the system continues. Difficulty of exams is fine, they r not very easy (you need to study) but they r not very difficult also, study 6 hrs for one exam and you will get 60-70% marks in it.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships start in 3rd year, and also in 4th year, by the end around 50 percent manage to get interns. You need projects in your resume or else no intern and placements and interviewers are intelligent enough to make out if u made it yourself or ai did it.

Placement Experience

4

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)

Fees and Financial Aid

The per semester fees is 95000 for general category without hostel. During admission I paid 1.21 lakhs including first semester fees. No fees benefit to category students, though they can apply for scholarships. If you are topper of your batch, nest year full fees is free

Campus Life

5

Campus life is enjoyable here, better than many. A good city, big campus, city life also has a lot. There are lots of clubs and societies here you will be even bored that they are not getting over with their marketing. Pecfest is really enjoyable, but it was better earlier, many politics happen in it and the budget goes under the table in wrong hands and this is rising each year so its losing its charm. Though few stars visit like arshdeep singh, madhur virli, ashish solanki etc. Sports teams here are nice, they often win here in intercollege matches, ncc and nss are also prevalent here and they are very serious groups.

Admission

I chose this college because of the fees and legacy of college, it is more than 100 years old and everyone in the industry knows about it, the fees is low compared to others. the campus is decent 150 acres which is comparatively better than other government colleges (though if u want better campus and can pay high, go for thapar). I applied to thapar, IIITs but at the end chose here. I was rejected from NIT delhi due to rank (college tag is more valuable of NIT). Admission process is only through josaa and csab, only online (after jee mains). And cse at pec is very popular, along with ece.

Faculty

4

Every branch has like 7-8 professors, they are helpful if you ask (only if you ask), all educated people with Mtech or Phd degrees from good institutes. The physics department HOD is a real passionate teacher, you will feel they are the best, EVS subject is real useless and the professors are also rude and arrogant, they just teach for attendance and salary, in one semester we have one mid term and one end term, they are like ok ok, you can get 7-8 cgpa if you study 10-15 days before. Out of 100 only like 1 fails (rarely), everyone manages to pass, and the course is non relevant old syllabus but just the college legacy age and tag will help at the end when companies approach

Night Life

5

Nightlife is good for boys, girls have to come back by 9 pm. Or else parents permission required for 10 or 11 pm. They are many places around the college to hangout. Gym is good but peak hours is real rush, cafeterias are decent. Library is good but little small. Inside pec you have many parks and grounds to hangout and a market also. Outside we have sukhna lake, air force mueseum, 17/22 market, golf course etc. locality is real safe and probably best in india (inside Chandigarh, not outskirts)

Placements of this college is better than many tier 2 NITs . Students are eligible for placement in 8th semester. If we talk about the top companies visiting PEC, these are Apple, Google, Microsoft, American Express, McKinsey, JP Morgan etc.

Campus placements are overall decent. Some students usually the top 10 percenrt students get high packages north of 15 lakhs and some even get 35-70 lakhs. but this number is very small and most students get around 4-10 lpa. around 60 to 70 percent students get placed combining on and off campus placements.

The whole curriculum focuses on the cramming power, not on the practical knowledge. Students have to do the tech stack on their own for the placements. Students must do the internship so that he/she will gain some practical knowledge and a chance to gain hands-on experience.
