Course Curriculum Overview

5

As a person who wants to build a strong foundation in both economics and mathematics, B.A.(Hons.) Economics was my first choice. This course not only provide valuable insights into how real world economics work, but it also has great career prospects. Students studying economics major actively take consulting, research, risk management as popular career choices. Since this is a practical course with a broad focus on mathematics, the difficulty level is from moderate to high.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently enrolled in B.A.(Hons.) Economics course at Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi. The tution fees for my course is Rs. 32,100/- (general category) for an academic year. Since my course is on the theoretical side, it does not have any lab fees. Our college offers various scholorships and fee concession instruments.

Campus Life

5

There are a lot of societies that DRC offers catering to the interest of every student ranging from dance, music, fashion, photography, art, poetry, public speaking and many more. Daulat Ram College also has it's annual fest called 'Manjari'. The library here is also nice offering both online and offline accesibilty to all books. The classrooms are equipped with smart screens for better learning experience.

Admission

Daulat Ram College takes admission through CUET (Common University Eligibilty Test) Score just like other Delhi University Colleges. I have always been that person who aspired to go to north campus to study. I scored 830/1000 marks in my CUET Exam enough to clear the cutoff for B.A. (Hons.) Economics at Daulat Ram College. I had applied to other north campus colleges like SRCC, Hindu, Hansraj, Ramjas, but couldn’t make it there. Daulat Ram College, being a girls college in my opinion is safer for girls. In this aspect, I believe DRC is better.

Faculty

5

In my opinion, the economics faculty is quite approachable. They try to solve our doubts in the simplest way possible, both in offline classes as well as online via whatsapp. There are usually 2 exams in a semester the mid-sems and the end-sems. Apart from this, we have CA ( Cummulative Assesment) and IA (Internal Assessment) tests that our professors keep taking throughout the semester. The difficulty level of the exams is at par with the level prescribed by the Delhi University. In my opinion the difficulty level ranges from somewhat moderate to high.

Night Life

5

The cafeteria in Daulat Ram College offers some amazing food. They also have nescafe and amul shops there. My personal favourite is red sauce pasta there. There are lot of hangouts spots near our college, especially in kamala nagar.

As per I've heard, placements here are decent. I can't say for sure because I'm new here. About my plans, I am doing CFA side by side because I don't believe that a bachleors degree has any valur of it's own, one needs to pair it with something else.

Placement Experience:

I would say the placement opportunities are more available for science , commerce background students in the college there are rarely any placement opportunities for humanities background students . Mostly students starts engaging in placement in the fifth semester .severky companies visited campus every year including Deloitte , EY.TCS etc . Around 40 - 50 percent students from professional courses get the placement annually .even for the students not opting for placement the exposure n the strong alumni network of college help them secure good opportunities outside campus

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum for my course, economics hons. , I would say is very relevant to our day to day life. The curriculum set by the university doesn't focus only on indian economics but economies through out the world. The suggested books are also the top books used in many international top universities. The curriculum provides us with a lot of real world applications through various case studies. For exams the delhi university guidlines are followed and I would say now the exams are based on more of practical usage and how materials taught in class are applied in real life.
