Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Course is a well rounded structured offering by Delhi University. I was interested to get into a well educated environment with a helpful faculty , and an institute to grow as a well rounded indiviual both academically and non acedmically. The assignements , projects given by the teachers and the live events organised by the college has actually prepared me for the real world aspects of Accounting and Finance. I have learnt a lot from this course yet and am looking forward for the semesters ahead.

Internships Opportunities

4

Companies : Bain and Co. , Accenture , PWC, Zomato , are some examples of companies that come. There are multiple medium scale startups as well that actively participate in providing the students a well rounded internship opportunity. Tasks : Marketing and Accounting roles are the most common fields of internships we are offered.

Placement Experience

5

The College offers both internship as well as placement opportunities to the students . Yearly, the college hosts an internship fair for the students to have Live interviews with the companies at the fair. This gives us a real world experience with the job markets in Accounting , Finance , Consulting and Marketing. The placement cell at JMC is an active society wherein students are provided the opportunity to sit for placements in a professional format . The average package at Jesus and Mary College for the Commerce Dept is about 800000 indian rupees , which is an upper edge compared to various Delhi University colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

The overall fees is 24,000 indian rupees. Delhi University does give a concession to students under the categories of ST, SC, OBC NCL as well as reservation of seats under other special categories. The fee is in the same range since the past 2 years and does not show indications to rise more than 5% annually which makes it a nominal options at a great institute as like JMC.

Campus Life

5

The Jesus and Mary college has about 50 societies , off which various societies hold annual events. Our commerce society is known for its Commaccumen Event held annually with various distinguished guests invited . The library has a vast number of books to offer with an easy process of issuing of books. The college's library is well maintained by the faculty with the availablity of mostly all genre of books on all subjects for the students. Classrooms are equipped with touch screen based boards and projectors to be equipped with the modern world of technology and helping in retention of concepts with ease and practical examples. The sports facilities at our college is a blessing , which includes a huge ground to play football, and various other outdoor sports. We have a provision for Badminton, Basketball as well as a Gym for athletes to work on their physical fitness. There are various student run societies and clubs ranging from dept societies to hobby based clubs . It is a fulfilling environment to be exposed to various non academic activities and events. The college has a student portal as well to keep us updated with events , announcements , attendances and a log for our academics .

Admission

1. I had only applied for Colleges in Delhi University under the CUET examination held by NTA and DU itself. I was keen on joining JMC on priority as I wanted the environment to grow as a successful indiviual , and the open environment where both academics and extra curriculars are respectful is something i really wanted. The environment of a only girls college is something i prefered to work with likewise academically driven girls. 2. The Delhi University admissions works on a preference list, and according to your score , the student gets the best possible commination of course and college. I was happy to know I was able to get this college and it's a lucky opportunity in itself. 3. The admission process is smooth and easy under the CSAS portal of Delhi University. For my course , B.Com (Hons) - we need to appear for one language exam, one between accountancy or maths , and 2 subjects of choice. This makes in 4 subjects with 50 questions each that are all compulsory to attempt. A total of 250 marks for each subject sum up to 1000 marks. This year , in 2025, the B.Com Hons general category course had a cutoff of 840 marks .

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is at a high level as the number of students our Commerce faculty can attend to is low , making it easy to get our doubts cleared and converse with our professors. The Commerce Faculty at JMC is well regarded for its expertise in the commerce and business domain. The multiple events held by the Commerce Dept gives us a wide field to understand the world of commerce and get insights in the real world. The examination system at our college is student friendly. We have continuous revision tests spread across the semester to brush up our concepts and be accessed for our Countinous Assesment. Furthermore at the end of the semester we are guided to work on assesmenets , projects and practical examinations . Finally , we have our Final semester exams held by The Delhi University Examination department that is held across 2 -3 weeks .

Night Life

5

The Gym, cafeteria and library are the best hang out spots for students to unwind post classes. The cafetaria offers tasty yet affordable food to us giving us a time well spent with our peers . The campus is open from 7 am for students in the college sports teams , while regularly classes are between 8.30 to 4 pm , depending on the course combination of the students. The college is open on Saturdays as well . The city : Delhi is full of hangout places with friends . The variety of cafes , historic locations and shopping centres gives a student the full filling experience of the outside word. The accessibility is easy by the travelling via metro, autos and cabs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Bcom that they offered was good enough to prepare one for the real world applications as various examples and field activities were also conducted by the college at that time . Teacher student ratio should be taken care of along with lethargic teaching methods like lecture method . Exams were held every 6 months and the difficulty level was easy.
