- The teaching staff is really great here. They are well versed in their subjects and provide personal mentoring and advisory for students too.
- There are a lot of social events going on around the campus so a lot of scope for making new friends.
- There are various options for subjects in the college apart from aec, vac, sec students have various options for choosing ge and dse. So I would say the course curriculum is flexible according to your liking.
Dislikes
- JMC is more focused on academics but it also provides various extracurricular opportunities time to time.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for my course, economics hons. , I would say is very relevant to our day to day life. The curriculum set by the university doesn't focus only on indian economics but economies through out the world. The suggested books are also the top books used in many international top universities. The curriculum provides us with a lot of real world applications through various case studies. For exams the delhi university guidlines are followed and I would say now the exams are based on more of practical usage and how materials taught in class are applied in real life.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for BA Economics hons specifically for the year 2024 was under 22,000 INR. It increased in the current year to 27,000. There is no difference in fee for batchmates as there are only 2 categories of students- general and Christian minority. There are few concessions avalaible for students provided by the college itself and is really easy to avail. The tution fee includes various things like library fee, sports fee, electricity fee, extracurricular fee etc.
Campus Life
Around the year there are many events other than the main college fest each department has their own fest celebrated every year. There are fests like diwali mela and ethenic day celebrated each year. Apart from these there are many festival celebrations around the campus. The library is filled with every possible book one could require and has a great seating for students. There are many societies in college that students can join and many societies have regular events going on.
Admission
I applied to various other private colleges like NMIMS, symbiosis, and many other delhi university colleges. I got into both NMIMS and symbiosis but I chose Jesus and mary firstly because of its legacy in delhi university and the fact Jesus and mary provides students with a lot more flexibility and options than any private colleges. Unlike private colleges here everything is done and organised by students for students. Jesus and mary is one of the top sount campus college is delhi university. Just like any other delhi university college for admission we have to focus on CUET and fill in the CSAS forms
Faculty
The faculty at the college is remarkable. They are not only proficient in their subjects but also have knowledge of other subjects in the department. They are really friendly and easy to approach. Faculty are also understanding and don't give students a hard time. The teachers are also very lenient with internal exams. They usually ask the students when they want to conduct the internals and what syllabus are they comfortable with, they also give students multiple changes to improve on their tests. Not all teachers ask for tests some finish their markings throught presentations or assignments. The marking are also lenient. It's very rare to find a strict teacher but they are also usually very easy to approach and wishes well for us.
Night Life
Our college does not have its own hostel, but near college there are various places students can hang out after classes. There are many cafes and places to hang out just few mins away. Gym, library, parks etc everything can be found near by
