Remarks

The infrastructure is poor and even though washrooms were newly built, maintenance of the same were not undertaken. Overall the workers over there are very helpful and that forms a very good impression about the college

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We had semester system and we had exams at the end of each semester but there were quizzes, class tests and assignments meant solely for internal marking. Life sciences consists of botany, zoology and chemistry and in each semester we had specific topics to study under each of these domain. In addition to this we also had a basic qualifying subject like English or EVS in each semester but their marks were added in our CGPA. We don't get the option of an additional elective that other honours course students are offered. The lab work gave us a practical understanding of what we were learning in class especially in botany and practicals had a separate exam in the end.

Placement Experience

2.5

Yes, our college provides placements but there are no companies that come offering a role in science and the same is true for internships. Our college does not offer internships. There are companies that offer general job roles and are willing to take science students.

College Events

4.5

Our national social service(NSS) team along with the media relations team organises diwali mail. Freshers would be the first event that first years will encounter. We have our own fest and departmental fests take place in the months oct-feb. Convocation and farewell are also two important events on the calender

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible. Generally the price of any course would be less than Rs. 15,000/- per annum. And since it's a 3 year course it is feasible to afford that. There are some courses which cost around 20,000/- per annum but they offer better infrastructure such as air conditioned labs.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for any scholarship or loan facility that our college offers but there is a bank inside the college venue, in case there is a facility like that i think they would be able to guide better

Campus Life

2

We had the provision of very good extracurricular activities. This college offers to you the option of joining any society and there are a lot of societies meant for this- from dancing to dramatics to sports. Sports infrastructure in our college is good but the rooms allocated to other societies are not good. Labs in our college are not well maintained. Botany and zoology labs are nice but chemistry labs are unbearable with half of the devices not working properly

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students in the college are Very helpful but the alumni network is poorly managed. Placement notices for alumni is updated and we get a notice regularly but otherwise we don't receive email updates on events that we have an invite for.

Admission

List of college specific course specific cut off was out on the college website, post which we visited the college on the day of taking admission. We were asked to wait and arrange our documents and submit the same which were supposed to be signed by the principal. Any candidate will have to wait since you cannot predict as to when your form will come. For me it took 6 hours of waiting because they had lost my admission slip in the office. You have to submit the fees post your admission but you need to give some amount for registration so that your seat is fixed.

Faculty

4

Gargi College has a good science faculty. It has a well funded botany department and the professor's from botany department are highly knowledgeable in their domain. The faculty motivates you to study further and out of the course given to us and is highly encouraging and supportive when it comes to pursuing a field in science.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The core subjects are very well divided, the main problem arises with the other additional subjects which requires efforts as same as the other subject even though they don't hold any importance as such. Maybe reducing other subject or making them practical based instead of theory based would be helpful.

The placements of my college are moderate as the average package is ?6.5 lakhs and the highest package is around ?23.02 lakhs . Many prestigious companies like delloite, accenture have held various placement sessions in DRC and it's overall a good to place for companies to get high skilled students. The placement cell is very active too which makes it possible for our college to get many internships and placements opportunities.

i think it's very outdated and not of any practical use unless you go for research and scientific fields of science. it does not prepare much for the real world and current market but teaches about biology and chemistry which helps sometimes. the frequency if exam is fine.

The Fest organised by this college is Priyadarshini and the annual fest Rajnigandha. The Fest are not great in comparison to other du college and are not that much celebrated. There are many different kinds books present in library like literature,Hindi, Chemistry, Maths, zoology, biology, botany, political science, History Geography the books are only alloted till 12pm and only for 15 days after that you will be charged if book is not returned Sports and Extracurricular are good but classrooms are not that great most projectors in classrooms don't work . There are many good societies in college like jamini the art society and others but joining has caused students to leave their classes which affects them academically

The placements cell Avenues regarding the placement offers coming to the college. Major companies of the job market come to the campus for recruitment like KPMG, deloitte, zepto, EY, ZS Associates and many more. The students from the final year itself gets eligible for placements. Around 30-40% students get the palcements through the placement drive. The highest package during the last palcement season was around 18 to 20LPA, while the average was 7 to 8LPA. I will certainly go for higher studies in operational research.
