Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course is designed in a very old fashioned way. It feels as if you are just copy studying the CA curriculum. The course does not prepare us for real world application at all. Most of it is theory based however, I feel like the curriculum must be replaced with much newer topics as there are many outdated stuff that we as students still need to learn that do not carry any relevance in today's world. Exams are tough and it feels very frequent as MId sem exams and semester exams along with assignement and weekly seminars that are compuulsory to attend.

Internships Opportunities

3

An event called INITIUM is held every year which gives the students opportnity to apply for cool internships in different domains. Stipend ranges from 5000-20000 per month Usually, the roles are Marketing and sales.Sometimes even finance internships are welcomedd.

Placement Experience

3

There are quite a handfull of companies coming into our college like DE Shaw, Futures First, WhiteOak Capital, Accenture, Zomato, SDSR consultancy, etc. All students wh do not have any back or arrears and are registered with the placement cell are eligible to sit for placements. the highest package ranges around 18-20 lpa where as the average package is around 6-8lpa all under finance domain. I plan to complete the CFA after my degree

Fees and Financial Aid

1st year - 80000 2nd year - 70000 and 3rd year - 60000 (all broken down into 4 instalments per year, 2 per semester) There is no seperate exam registeration fee. There are condonation and arrear fees for bad attendance and failure in examinations respectively that is compulsory to be paid to progress in the college. Condonation fee ranges between 500 to 1000 per subject and arrear fee ranges from 800 to 1500 per subject Evening students pay double our fees. This year my friend in third year is paying 1.4 lakhs I am not aware of scholarships.

Campus Life

4

We have the biggest intercollege even in west bengal called Xavotsav every year in feb. There are many other events organised by many different societies like Inception, BullPen, etc. We have one of the best national libraries with a wide inventory of books of almost every domain. Most classrooms do not have ACs however each one is equipped with Projectors. Lifts are only available for faculty members. Sports and extracurrculars are descent as there are not apt resources for all of them. there are many societies/clubs like Xavier's commerce society, Entrepreneurship development cell, Hult price, TedX, Marketing society, Management society, consulting club, etc.

Admission

I applied for Christ bangalore and Symbiosis Pune, but Kolkata was the nearest city to me and therefore I chose Kolkata. However, christ has a better infrastructure and faclities over xaviers and symbiosis and symbiosis has better exposuure as a candidate. My college there is an entrance exam for only BMS course, rest all courses are based on merit i.e., 12th board examination marks. There are no intervierws durng my time but the latest batch had some interviews.

Faculty

4

most classes have around 70-80 students. Thus, the ratio is 1:80. Most teachers are friendly and helpful however, their teaching methods are monotonous. I recommend the best faculty is in the finance department and the marketing department as they have real life experience and have also achieved great success in their lives. First we have the mid sem exams for 10 marks, 5 marks for attendance, and 5 marks for assignments. Semester exams are conducted of 80 marks.

Night Life

4

Under a 2km radius, the area is filled with cafes, restros and pubs. One of the best recommendations are LMNOQ, Roots, Hashtag, Bar-B-Q, Fluries, etc. the last department classes end at 8pm in the evening. It is totally safe to roam around at night in the area.
