Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is relevant but is mainly focused on research more than the practical world. The practical application is difficult in this case. But the knowledge gained through the whole process helps us to be prepared in that regard. I would prefer a semester of internship for courses like Public Policy as it helps to get more insights.
Internships Opportunities
I did my internship in Primus Partners which I have cleared through interview process. I worked on cryptos and policies and the tasks were predefined for me. So it was pretty great experience. I had good learning and met many people working in this field.
Placement Experience
For masters students, from 3rd sem they are eligible for the placements. The placements are pretty good. The companies are mainly consulting companies. Microwave, EY, IForest to name a few. Students get placed at various organizations based on their interest. The average package in around 10-12 lakhs and highest is 15 lakhs. Till now, all the students in the batches from Public Policy are placed. My plan also aligns with placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The first sem fee was around 40000 and the subsequent sem had a few of 17500 each. I didn't receive any scholarship or grants and the fee mentioned here are inclusive of Tuition fees, caution fees, registration fees, admission fees, development fees, lab fees and the other compulsory charges. Along with this, the common amenities fees are charged which comes around 5000 each semester. I am not aware about any of the financial aids that OBC students are receiving. But there are fee reduction for SC/ST candidates.
Campus Life
Rendezvous is the annual event and there are multiple tech fests too. The fests are held in October and February .The campus is inclusive. They celebrate all the festivals. The libraries are well equipped with many books and online subscriptions. The classrooms are world class and there are good amenities. We have 2 sports complex for students and student activity centre for extracurricular activities. There are multiple clubs and groups for students and also there are groups in hostel.
Hostel Facilities
The room has ACs, ventilation, table and chair and a shelf. The meal quality is fine and the menu changes every month. The registration process of hostel was smooth and it's affordable compared to the other PGs in Delhi. I am staying inside the hostel in campus.
Admission
I have applied to IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi for the course in public policy. I got into IIT Delhi. Both the colleges are good and premium institutions in India. So I am happy to be in IIT Delhi. But IIT Bombay had courses which aligns with my previous academic background. So IIT Bombay would have been better for me. I got my rejection from Bombay as my JRF was not out by then. So I couldn't make it. The admission process was an aptitude exam and an interview was followed with. The eligibility criteria was 4 year level UG course or masters level. Gate or NET was a plus in IIT Delhi.
Faculty
The faculties are well experienced and qualified and the faculty to student ratio is pretty good. We have around 10-13 faculties for the whole school of Public policy. I am working under Prof Ambuj and he is an excellent mentor. Coming to the exams, its mainly assignments and not written exams. The assignments try to test our knowledge gained throughout the course.
Interview Experience
Yes. The interview was based on some research articles and they asked for our opinion. The panel had 4 professors and they were specialising in different areas. I prepared by going through some research articles and prepared through my CV well.
Night Life
The nightlife is pretty good. We have night canteens and there are no restrictions in the campus. We can access the hostel gym any time and the library also late at night. There are no curfew. There is a development area just opposite to the campus where there are cafes. There is naturals, sandoz, amul etc for hangout.
