What Students Say
Likes
- Very professional faculty, extremely supportive teachers with great qualifications are there to help each and every student.
- Scholarships are great, as students can make their money back on the fees, and scholarships are given out commonly, making the high fees redeemable
- Club culture in this college is probably one of the best in India and really fun clubs are available to be joined. The fest is also very lively
Dislikes
- Academics is prioritised a lot in this college, with no exam breaks causing a lot of academic pressure on students
- Fees is extremely high if joining through PESSAT, and is probably not worth it
- Campus is on the smaller side , but the infrastructure is good
Course Curriculum Overview
PES actually keeps all the syllabus upto date. The syllabus is updated every year to match the needs of the market, at least for CS branch. A lot of effort is used to make the course, and all the course materials are provided in a detailed manner. Two exams are held ISA and ESA. ISAs are held twice every semester after 1 and a half months and the ESA is held at the end. The course is pretty relevant and makes you ready for the workforce
Internships Opportunities
Many companies come in pes with around 30-49 tier 1 companies, like ibm apple deshaw paypal microsoft delloite, offering many roles like software developers and a lot of other roles. I haven't been in an internship yet but have heard from seniors that it's very easy to bag an internship. Stipends go from 10,000 all the way to 1 lakh. Top companies from Banglore visit PESU.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for internships from the third year and companies come to campus for interns. Actual placement happens in fourth year. The placement in pes is extremely good as for CS almost all students get placed. Majority tier 1 and tier 2 placement takes place and the average is 11 lpa last year. The highest package was around 65 lakh offered by Apple. Placements are also easy to get and there is no need for a 9.5+ CGPA. This year, 140 students were picked up in PES by IBM for 40lpa, so the placements just keep on getting better
Fees and Financial Aid
For Btech in Computer Science, total fees is 4,50,000 per year if you get in through PESSAR. The management fees goes upto 11 lakh per year. If you join the college through KCET however, the total fees is around 1 lakh per year. Other branches in BTech have lesser fees. The college administration told everyone to get 4 DDs during admission if you're in Computer Science. Scholarships are awarded heavily in the college, there are 3 tiers of scholarship, DAC, CNR and MRD. MRD pays 1,20,000 back every single semester if you have a top 5% CGPA. CNR offers 90,000 for top 20% students(SGPA) and DAC offers 2000. This is only for PESSAR students.
Campus Life
In RR Campus, Atmatrisha is a fest held every year in even semesters, around march-april. The library is huge and there are 3 libraries in the campus with a vast collection of course books as well as non course books. There are sports teams for every sport and it's the best people and every year selections are held. There are around 50 clubs in PES and all fo them are available to be joined year round, events are held every semester. Inter department tournaments are held every year
Hostel Facilities
There are three blocks in the hostel- NB, mess block and it block. The nb and mess block have attached washrooms and it block has common bathroom. There is also IH block which is two sharing and comming bathroom. NB and NBX are three sharing, and IT is the most spacious with three sharing. Theres also MM block with attached washrooms and two sharing, probably the best in the entire hostel. There are three messes- NAMDHARI that serves vegetarian food, FOOD COURT that servers non vegetarian and SKM that serves non veg as well In terms of ranking, SKM is the worst mess and food court is the best
Admission
This college holds an exam called PESSAT every year all over India and they send ranks to whoever applied. However the admission is offline so you have bad luck if you're not in Bangalore. However KCET and management is also accepted by PES. I applied in many private colleges but PES is unbeated when it comes to placements, and their core CS course. Most of the colleges I applied to w, I got the wrong course which I didn't want to join, or I couldn't clear the cutoff. PES proved to be the best college among all my options
Faculty
For Btech- CS, there are around 15-20 classes. The faculties are specialised in their subjects, and all of them have a higher study degree. They have great knowledge of their respective subjects. For 1st year, syllabus is closer to 11th-12th. Andin second year actual price segregation is seen. There are two main exams-ISA and ESA. Two ISAs are held every semester out of 40 and then reduced to 20 each. ESA is out of 100 marks reduced to 50. The other marks are a combination of assignments, lab marks, internals, etc.
Night Life
Curfew is at 10 pm for hostels. Gym is open till 7:30 pm, cafeteria is open till 4 pm the best hangout place is probably the student lounge. Library is open till 9pm but there are talks of making it 24/7. So there is no nightlife in campus. Hostel bakery available till 11pm, but where is a vending machine. Messes are open till 10pm for dinner
