Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is set by the ICAR and it is one of the finest and most appropriate for students to outperform in this field if only they work sincerely. Each and every course is well designed to polish the forestry skills to shine in students. But the faculty doesn't teach you the manner ICAR has designed the course. Very least or almost no practical is being taken here. Exams are taken after 2 months as mid term and after 5 months as end term . Exam duration is of 1 hour for mid term and 2 hours for end term.

Internships Opportunities

1

There is no internship and no placements occuring here. They just recieve hefty amount of money into their pockets in name of research work and projects but they don't consider practical work or research work of anykind for the UGs. Practical approach in this faculty is near to zero which needs to be improved and to be started as soon as possible.

Fees and Financial Aid

This faculty goes with a 8 semester course (4years duration) . Per semester fee costs to Rs 27800 (including the hostel fee of Rs 9800 ) while I was admitted here in year 2022. This fee is for open merit and ICAR students. Self finance students need to pay a bit higher of around 65k. ICAR students get benefit of NTS scholarship while others get NSP scholarship as per eligibility norms. U need to pay Rs 54000 ar the time of admission to this university .

Campus Life

2

There is no such festival or any cultural events being held here other than sports week which is also not in great attention to others. Books in library is very limited and they are always short on funds for God knows what they do with the money. Till date library room is much smaller than washroom with just 4 chairs which is major drawback for this faculty. Smartboard teaching is given by teachers which includes just slide reading and nothing else. Few groups are there on WhatsApp such as bloom and academics and student union but they don't have text of benefits . Rather it involves just crying over reservation for posts. No such union is there over here.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facility is good. 2 students live in 1 room which is very much spacious and has red carpet on floor of every room. Rooms are provided with 2 lights on ceiling , a ceiling fan and 2 study lamps Plus two study table and 2 chairs and 2 beds. Attached almirah is also provided in the room with balcony in every room with amazing view. Overall the hostel experience is quiet amazing 2 floor is there and each floor has 2 washroom and each washroom has 1 washing machine.

Admission

I applied to Bsc Agriculture and Bsc horticulture ...but was selected to Bsc Forestry. I thought of going for deep understanding of plants whilst living inside of forest and that's what this faculty gives you. The best thing about this college is that all vegetation you see here is man made and this barren land is being converted to lush green forest area. The exams for admission to this college includes CUET and SKUAST-K exams. Students can give either of them. Cut off varies each year based on number of students.

Faculty

1

The faculty student relation is good but not best. They don't teach everything and they also don't know everything. Students rely on internet , YouTube. The exams are of much easy level. Mid term exams are cake walk for anyone and you can give exam by studying just 1 hour. They just repeat the previous year papers. End term exam is of moderate level but one can easily score around 30-40 out of 50 with 3 hours of study. Faculty I like here is of Wildlife by Dr. Amir Farooq Bhat. And rest all faculty members doesn't even deserve a thumbs up. Academics need to improved here at earliest. Many faculty members are just on lateral entry and they don't know ABC of particular subjects.

Night Life

1

Hostel has gym on ground floor . Cafeteria is not available for 1km. Hostel timing has no such rules and even hostel has no rules . Even though study profession has diversity and must not involve religion into it ...but being Muslim dominated , they disturb others with high decibel noise of azan which they do in hostel. So refrain from coming here if you are non muslim. There is no night life and no hangouts here in this faculty of forestry.

First impression of any college is their physical appearance, it was literally very worst. In this biotechnology course there should be more practical work than theory but there we study only theories so university have to focus on practical work

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

First of all, I had taken science in my 12th too, that is why I wanted to continue in science and due to my interest in physics and chemistry, I continued in this course. The curriculum provides me with Whatever is sufficient in my course and whatever knowledge I need, I will have more than that. Exam timing should be in the afternoon only because morning gets very late in coming due to which exam gets skipped, rest it is perfect

Course Curriculum Overview:

The forestry course itself is a unique course as it involves a major part that includes the practical stuff. The practicals aspect of this course attracts a lot of nature enthusiasts students. The curriculum helps a student for a a variety of tasks if he or she is from agricultural background. This curriculum should have some more importance to the upcoming technology such as AI. We have two exams and two classroom quizzes for each semester after every three months we have either end term or our mid terms.
