My College Experience

This college is one of the Six Government Engineering college of West Bengal. From my experience it is one of the best. There is a bond between every student and teachers that amaze me. One of the positive about this college is that it has a very good placement process for it's final year students.

At first I thought the course curriculum was a bit distractive from my Stream but as the 1st year gone the curriculum became more accurate with my stream. Whole degree is divided in 4 years and every year is divided in 2 parts. So there are 8 semester in total of 4 years degree course. In every semester there are two examination called Internal examination of 15 marks each and then a final examination of 70 marks. So that total of 100 marks in each semester in each subject.

One of the best thing about this college is it has a very good placement cell. Every year more than 75% students gets placed from here. Leading companies like TCS, Wipro,Tech Mahindra, Ericson etc come here every year to do the placement. I actually got 2 placement offers from TCS and Tech Mahindra. This college also give stipend to SC, ST, OBC students and a Full Fee waiver and Half fee waiver to economically poor student.

There is a annual Festival organized every year by student Union. Farewell , new student welcome, teachers day, online gaming etc organised every year by the student Union here. Football and cricket between students and faculty organized every year.

This is a Government aided college. So fees here are really low as most of the burden cleared by the Government. Student needs to pay only a small amount of Tution fee every 6 months. That Tution fees carries from 3000 to 12000 per semester.

There is a really good scholarship facility for economically backward categories student called half fee or full fee waiver. In this scheme economically weaker student gets their Tuition Fee half or Fully waived on the basis of their family income. Although I didn't availed it but some of my friends were in this schemes.

Laboratories here are fully Air conditioning. There are all sorts of things in the laboratories that you need for your experiments. There is a union room separate for boys and girls and one can practice there extra curricular activities there like guitar, drum, music, singing, dancing, drawing etc. There are a total of 2 ground available for students for their sports. Every year a inter college tournament in football and cricket organized by student Union.

I was not a hosteller but what I heard from my hosteller friends that infrastructure in the hostel was really good. According to my hosteller friends facilities provided in the hostel was as good as any 2 star hotel. Food here was really cheap although quality was not that good.

Alumni network in KGEC is very strong. They have a book where Mobile no and email address of every alumni is written. So you can contact anyone you want from alumni or the senior students. They are really helpful. They meet once a year during the college festival and more than once if needed.

There is a entrance exam called Joint Entrance Examination. I sit on that exam while I was reading in class 12. I got a rank close to 10000 on that entrance exam and passed the class XI exam. Then there was a online process of choosing the college and desired stream for me and I got admission this KGEC in IT stream.

Our college faculties we're really good and helpful. There doors were always open for us. They even gave us their personal phone number and email address to connect with them in case of emergency. Our project supervisor helped us a lot in our project making. Every faculty here is always helpful and very professional in their work.
