Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum of economics honours is highly quantitative and it has a very high mathematical orientation and such rigorous coursework requires students to devote good amount of time to academics as well and attending the classes essentially becomes very much important. The curriculum caters to teaching relevant things that can be essential for securing jobs and/or pursue further academics in the field. The curriculum is burdened with several subjects such as VAC, AECC, and SEC. They help in boosting and enhancing the grades overall but they mostly have proven to be irrelevant. The structure is that there are two internals depending upon teacher's wish mostly of 12 marks each and 6 marks for attendance. . This makes it 30 marks Additionally, 40 marks is reserved for tutorials which is mostly practicals or assignments. The course structure is as follows: 3 core subjects 1 ge AEC, VAC AND SEC

Placement Experience

3

Students sit for placements from the fifth semester onwards. Majorly placements are focused for students pursuing economics and commerce, comp. Sci. Hons. course, however courses of math hons., etc., also get placed at good companies. Some big names come to Hansraj including LEK, Goldman Sachs, BCG, BCN, Alvarez nd marsal, DeShaw JPMorgan, etc., the highest package is by DeShaw of 22LPA this year, and the avg. package is about 8 lakhs. There a. Lot of offers made students can check out the placement cell of Hansraj College for exact details on Instagram handles. My core plan is to sit for placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are several scholarship s for people belonging to different backgrounds such as some based on income, some based on caste, some are sports scholarship and private scholarship s are also provided by dell and reliance etc .

Campus Life

4

The annual fest is good nd lasts for 3 days within which all the societies of the college participate with celebrity singer coming in on the last day, in addition of it, the college has different events here and there which are conducted by college societies. For school students societies is like clubs for example, debate society is where people interested in creating come, similary others for others. The library is nice and has a lot of available books and are easily issued to the kids however the seating capacity seems to be less during peak exam timings. Hopefully, only a few colleges in du have AC facility nd Hansraj is one of it, all classes additionally also have projector access to it. Extracurricular activities are humungous and are catered by different societies. You can look up to your interested activity society on website or even Instagram as well. Sports activities are also good nd we even have an indoor badminton court which is not there in many colleges. Except for academics life on campus is societies so yeah they bring engagement within peerss, also all college societies are student led and have an assigned faculty as their convenor.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facility is really good. The area of rooms is quite small but as time passes by students do get acquainted to the limited space and really enjoy the wholesome experience. Hostel facilities are quite elite and only have around one seat per category per course and yes allocation is via merit and you get hostel only for a year and then again merit lists are out on college website. Hostel application open soon when induction is done. The food at Hansraj hostel is literally incomparable to the nearby PGs, it is extremely good like it has lot of varieties that serve all cuisine styles from North to South and we have food thrice with dessert each day at dinner. The food is served in a mess. The room has two study Tables for both the inmates and one door shelf for clothes etc., and a common double door slab for books etc., additionally, the hostel also hosts a lot of tournaments in itself such as volleyball tournaments, etc., so in totality a very good nurturing environment and exposure and in short if you do get it take it.

Admission

For eco honors Mathematics is compulsory (applied and core both work) One language subject Additionally, two more domains. Cuet is the entrance exam Easily available on cuet website Application fee varies each year with around 1200-1500. Exam timings vary acc to subjects ranging from 45 min to 1 hr. There are no cut off released Once the results are out, students are expected to fill the preference sheet and college get allocated accordingly. Roughly for top colleges, the cut off for general category was 780+ for St. Stephen's 775+ for SRCC 765+ for Hindu 750+ for Hansraj. For reservation cayegories esp. In eco there's a huge disparity for OBSs you can get SRCC at 720 or even less and according ly the cut offs are low for EWS, SC, ST, Kashmiri Migrants etc.

Faculty

4

The teacher student ratio is around 1:100 for almost all courses. However, even though this number looks very large but teachers are mostly qualified and experienced enough to manage the classroom effectively and they have good attitude and do solve the students doubts and queries nicely.

Placement Experience:

placement and internship fares are regularly conducted on campus where various companies which are mostly start-ups visit to recruit students for internships and entry level roles. Students become eligible for internships from the first year itself. placement opportunities are generally available after the completion of the full degree and only final year. Students are eligible to apply for full-time rules. last during our last internship and placement fair over 20 companies visited and recruited almost 150 candidates. There are no separate records distinguishing internship from placement. The highest package reported for economics honours is around 12 lakhs per annum and the average package is approximately five lakhs per annum. As per my future plans,I intend to pursue a masters degree after completing my undergraduate course.

For USME, FMCG and Financial companies are the ones which are put in place. The only reason is that those are the companies where we can add value and placements of both courses of USME happens together and combined if I say around 75% students are placed. My plan though is to join GIPE after my graduation ends this year.

DTU because East campus is more known for USME placements revolve around us. Now core companies of our sectors are the ones that deals with finance, insurance or stocks. So nearly 20-30 companies of that space or sector hires over 100 students of BAE every year.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .
