Course Curriculum Overview
The exams are conducted regularly which is a good thing but there is no gap between internal exams and we have two subjects per day. That becomes really stressful if you do last minute prep. The curriculum is designed very well and includes all that is required by the industry in this time.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since it is a government college, the fee is very much affordable. Being a non Keralite I have to pay around 1 lakh per year, and it is even lesser for those being admitted under the state merit. Hostel fee is only 300 rupees.
Campus Life
The library facility is the best. I love to spend my time in the University library which has lots of books on all topics. It also has AC and wifi facility. There are various clubs such as Mind Empowered (for mental health), NSS, and each branch has its own club. CS students are part of ACES which regularly conducts many workshops and hackathons which give us exposure. Sports activities are also conducted regularly.
Admission
I was a dropper student but didn't prepare well for JEE. I barely qualified mains and appeared for the advanced but did not clear it. Being a general candidate, I got very few colleges but did not want to compromise the branch. I wanted to pursue Computer Science. CUSAT conducts its own entrance exam CAT which includes questions on PCM with more weightage given to maths. Since my maths is very strong, I easily cleared the exam with a rank 893 and I got allotted IT first, then CS in spot round.
Faculty
The scheme has changed a little recently for the new students. Since I am in third year, I will share my scheme. We have two internal exams in a semester and one external exam. Internal exams are generally of 50 marks each and each carry a weightage of 12.5 So overall the marking scheme is : Internals - 25 Assignment - 10 Attendance - 5 External Exam - 60 (question paper is of 72 marks but maximum marks is 60) CS faculties are all very nice and supportive.
