Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculim is relevant as well as vast. It comprises of subjects that are not usually taught at the undergraduate level but is useful for us none the less. Also comprises of other subjects that gives us skills in coding, presentation, project based learning, how to do research, etc. The dificulty level of the exams depend slightly on the course and a lot on the faculty member who is making the question paper. There are two main exams in one semester mid sems and end sems. And then few tests and group activity (presentation) before and after the mid semester exams.

Internships Opportunities

4

There is a lot of internship opportunities in pune but i am not aware of much within the college. Faculty helps in getting internships though they provide information as well as write LOR's for us, which helps in getting interships elsewhere.

Placement Experience

3

Placements in the colleges are good for all the courses. For my course physics we havent had a batch that has passed out yet so i do not know much about the placements. Most students from undergraduate physics pursue higher studies first and then look for jobs. Masters in physics has placements in industry as well as research fields. The average package for the masters students are 5 to 6 lakhs per annum. I will be pursuing my masters abroad first and then will think of a job

Fees and Financial Aid

80,000 Rupees is the course fee per year for BSc in Physics. The course can be completed in 3 years or 4 years (hounors). There is CIWG Scholarship that is applied without any tests or exams 50% and you need to maintain above 80% attendance, above 6 CGPA and not have any backlogs. If the criteria is maintained you will have the scholarship for all years. There are other scholarships based on 10th adn 12th grade board marks. Also there is a 100% or 50% fees waived if you maintain the highest gpa in you class or division. There is no extra lab fees or anything as such.

Campus Life

4

Overall experience in campus is really good. The whole environment of the campus is really good. It is very neat and clean and there is always some small event or the other organised by some club or the other in college. We have a lot of clubs in college few of the main technical clubs deal with building their own drones, rc planes, go karts, etc. We even have our own observatory and ground station for radio astronomy build by a club called cosmos in college. The infrastructure for labs and everything is good. Though the sports grounds are still under construction. The college also has their own bussiness incubator where they help start ups run by students.

Hostel Facilities

3

College provides its own hostels which are slgihtly far from the campus but they offer their own bus. Though i will recommend getting a PG or an apartment for rent and sharing it with a few other students. It is closer to college and will be easier to travel. There is a lot of mess near the college where you get good food and it is not that expensive as well. Hostel is good but slightly expensive it is 1,80,000 rupees for a triple sharing room and 2,70,000 for a double sharing.

Admission

The admission process of this college is easier compared to most college at it is easier to get into the college as well. You need to have marks above 50% in your boards and then will have to give and interview and then you get selected based on that. Admission is very easy. I chose this college as it offered me a major is Astrohphysics in undergraduate level which is not done by any other colleges in India. I did not apply to any other college just this one.

Faculty

5

Every deptmartment has their own set of faculty. For physics we have a very diverse faculty from different parts of the country with a lot of experience world wide as well working in various fields of physics like astrophysics, theoretical, photonics, etc. The faculty is always ready to help and are very approchable and knowledgeable. Students are allowed to work on research projects with any faculty during any given time during their course. There is mid semester exams of 30 marks and end semester exams of 40 marks and before and after your mid sems there is class continuous assessments which can be tests or written assignments depeding on the subject and the faculty there is also one group activity which is mostly a presentation for every subject in a semester. We are also allowed to pick a subject that is entirely out of our course from second year to learn.

Strong academic legacy with expereinced faculties and balanced content- preparing you for future studies and entrance exams and olympiads. very much strict, i would say not needed. somehwere you may experience baised behaviour; but when you are focused on gaining knowledge then these things dont matter as its only a matter of three years. Relevance of course is there but for applying for further studies not for that much for job prospects, if you want atleast a decent salary job.

I have rarely seen companies coming to our college for placement purposes for our course but I have seen companies coming for BCOM and BCA. I don't know about my course as I am currently in my second year. The percentage of students getting placements are veryess as my friend from third year said that out of 150 students only 10 students got placed this year which is very less compared to other colleges. My plans after getting the degree is if I got a job in any of the it company I will do it for experience and side by side I am planning to pursue my education in MSC CS
