Course Curriculum Overview

4

The MBBS curriculum covers a wide range of medical subjects, both theoretical and practical, spanning five and a half years. It is structured into pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical phases, which gradually expose students to the complexities of human health and disease. a. Pre-Clinical Phase (1st and 2nd Year): The first two years primarily focus on the basic sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and introductory courses in Pathology and Pharmacology. These subjects lay the foundation for understanding the human body’s structure, function, and how it responds to various diseases. b. Para-Clinical Phase (3rd Year): The third year introduces para-clinical subjects like Microbiology, Pathology, and Pharmacology in more detail. The focus here shifs to drugs & disease c. Clinical phase (final Year): During final year students have to study medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gyanacology, orthopaedic, pediatrics, psychiatrist & dermatology Drawback of course is - mbbs student have to write plenty of records, which is useless

Admission

I took this college because overall ranking of this college is very good. It comes under India's top 60 college. Another reason for taking admission in this college is overall reputation of Kerala education in india is very good.. Kerala is number one in literacy rate.. Fees is quite affordable. Admission process is very much simple, you have to give neet exam first, if you clear the cutoff then you have to apply for councelling which occurs online... If your rank is good college is allotted to you... After that you have to report the college and pay the fees and sing bond and submit your documents, after this your addmission is done

Faculty

4

80% faculty of gmc kannur is very good, they are very supportive and nice.. In first yera there is around 25 faculty for 100 students In 1st year anatomy department is little bit strict & physiology & biochemistry departments are chill... In every year, we have to give two internal exam , one pre university exam & main University exam... Exam are moderate, if you study whole year then you will not feel tough to clear the exam ... Every year 5-10 % students fail

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course not due to the curriculum..i qlways dreamed of becoming a good doctor. The level.of satisfaction you get in this profession wont be anywhere else. The modernization of curriculum has stressed on the clinical aspects which i think is the core of medicine. We have been taken to bedside and taught to examine patients diagnose the case and interpret imaging. Also the skill lab clears the obstruction we face in a real life like we are being trained in BLS and ALS. Our junior batches are also taken to trivandrum medical college to see autopsy which in fact is a real opportunity. The course could improve in a way that apart from academics it must give importance to sports arts also which is not promoted in our college. Also revisions classes can be made effects by conducting small test papers chapter wise instead of taking chapters on repetition. Exams are almost done in an effective way. The course is actually very difficult compared to others. So much effort has to be put in from both students and Teacher's side.

I chose MBBS as it has been one of my dreams since my childhood and it's my parent's dream more than mine. Faculties teaching in the First year min qualification is a master of science in the particular subject and from the second year onwards the minimum qualification is MBBS for every faculty. Three exams per year and you have to pass any one exam to write in university exam and it's somewhat difficult to pass if you start studying at last

Remarks:

The hostel and college infrastructure are a little poor compared to other colleges but it is expected with the minimal fees given. There are a lot of festivals and programs and a healthy political atmosphere. The non violent conflicts between the two opposing parties lead to good development in the college.
