Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The coure is a little bit difficult one. The MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course remains a cornerstone of medical education, providing a solid foundation for aspiring doctors. While the landscape of healthcare has evolved rapidly, the core principles and knowledge imparted through the MBBS course continue to be essential for practicing physicians. Relevance in Today's Healthcare Landscape * Foundation for Medical Practice: The MBBS curriculum equips graduates with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for diagnosing, treating, and preventing common diseases. * Adaptability: While the course may not cover every emerging medical specialty or technology in depth, it provides a strong base that allows graduates to adapt to new medical advancements through postgraduate studies or continuing education.

4

Campus Life

3.5

There are so many events organised by the students itself. Students have various opportunities to participate in arts and sports. There is a central library which is accessible to all students. There are so many clubs to promote student's activities.

Hostel Facilities

4

Annually around 13500 and Monthly mess around 3.5k for first year. Thrice a week non veg in hostel which may be upgraded later. Clean and hygiene mess. 6 persons per room in first year and will get single room in final year.

Admission

The admission is through NEET exam. It's a little bit difficult one.I opted this college because it's a reputed college in Kerala and established in 90's.and it has best faculty and infrastructure.I gor this college for my score in NEET.My first option was GMC Trivandrum for which I didn't have enough marks.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty to student ratio is about 1:20. It may vary slightly according to departments. As there is only 100 students, there exists a healthy student faculty relationship. And each knows each other. HOD of departments of first year are Dr.Swarnalatha, Dr.Beena Nambiar and Dr.Sherin Stephen. All of them are so kind to us and always ready to help in needs.Other faculties are also very active and helps us whenever there is a need. The exams are a little bit difficult and the internals are that much difficult. As the first year University exams are over for the 23 batch for now there is a pass percentage of about 89 percent from our 23 batch.Rest of the students has to appear for the SAY exam.

The course is a bit tough rather than other courses (professional courses) MBBS is a 4 year course with 1 year compulsory internship dealing with a total of 13-4 subject over the 4 years The curriculum prepares us for the real world experiecne but more often the clinical subjects aim in patuent student interaction that overall help in the achievemnt of professionalism The frequency if exams are very high as there needs to be regular revision of subjects in order to prepare for the finals and perfect in all clinical theory and oractical aspects

Kerala University of Health Sciences - [KUHS], Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Reviewed on Nov 30, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.
