What Students Say

Likes

The soothing environment here is very relaxing.
Lighting up of the buildings at night makes the entire campus look great.
No need to talk about the library, it is one of the largest in India.

Dislikes

Mess food here is just a little bit unhealthy.
Washing machines at the halls doesn't work properly

Course Curriculum Overview

Since branch changed system is abolished at iit kgp, we are taught our department related subjects from first semester itself, although one can opt for a double major after 1st year. The professors here are all experienced in their fields hence they teach quite well.

Class Size: 140Course Fees: INR 1256000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees per semester at iit kgp os around 1.6 lakhs including all expenses. This number may come down to around 1 lakh if you have family income below 5 lpa. There are also scholarships for the weaker sections and meritorious students .

Campus Life

The campus life at iit kgp is awesome. The clubs and society selections can be demotivating for some(including me) after you get rejected from their selections. Now once you feel demotivated you can cycle out the campus to mesmerized by its beauty starting from nehru meuseum to academic buildinga and lot more.

Admission

I chose iit kgp because it was one of the oldest iits and also the nearest one to my home. I got cs at jadavpur university and fell into a dilemma wheteheto go for ju cs or iit kgp ee. Later on i realised iit gives a broader stage for us to perform and electrical engineering is also not quite a bad course, although i heard it to be a bit hectic.

Faculty

As of my mid sems experience i would say its quite doable but have heard about the toughness of end sem exams which sometimes record an average marks of below 50%. Overall the professors here are quite good. As of now I have not yet found any professors that i don't like.

IIT KGP in a sophmores eye

Placement Experience:

The students can apply for internship via Career Development Centre in the beginning of their pre final Year. they can go for off campus intern whenever they want. Most of the goo companies would come and mostly for software finance consulting etc. The placements start in the second last semester as far as i know. The competition for placement is getting really high these days

Approximately 85 percent of the students gets placed . My plans after getting the degree is to get a Software Developer job

Course Curriculum Overview:

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

From fifth semester you are eligible for the intership . And from seventh semester you are eligible for the placement. Many companies visited our college such as TCS , IBM ,COGIZINANT, amd many more . The highest package is around 15 lpa and the average package is 4 - 5 lpa . The placement ratio is around 80 - 85 %

Overall a good college to start your career in the tech industry.

Placement Experience:

NIT DURGAPUR - A Detailed Breakdown

Placement Experience:

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

I chose IIT kharagpur because IITs are the top colleges in india whereas my college IIT kharagpur is ranked 4 in India among all the other IITs. It is the first IIT established in our country. It carries its legacy and pride forever. We get the best education here and good placements. One can enter this college through josaa councelling.
