What Students Say
Likes
- The University is affordable and has decent labs for the price we pay, the professors are quite knowledgeable about their subjects and have enough experience to teach well.
- The University is multi-disciplinary which helps an average students to interact with people of different courses and background which further exemplifies our knowledge.
- The library is very well equipped, if books are not available in the Engineering library, you will surely find it in the central library.
Dislikes
- The lab assistants are arrogant and often do not allow you to perform experiments well enough.
- The general infrastructure is quite run down and it takes days for even basic faults- a faculty fan to get fixed.
- The organisation is a beurecratic nightmare, you have to run to various offices to get a simple task done.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course has been heavily revised under the new Dean, Prof. Mini Shahji Thomas who has introduced minors and honours along with general reduction in redundant courses( a semester of engineering chemistry for example) in accordance to the New Education Policy. The timing of the exams however can be erratic and stressful.

Admission
I choose Jamia particularly because of its vibrant culture, affordability and good return on investment. The admission process is through Jamia's own website where you have to fill up forms and the criteria is your Jee mains score. I applied to other colleges through Jossa and got into NIT Srinagar electrical but choose Jamia Electronics over it.
Faculty
Jamia has a faculty to students ratio of 1:8 for the engineering department, most are quite approachable, with a few exceptions. Prof. Faheem, Prof. Shahid Salam of Applied Sciences department are the best one the get in the first year of engineering. We have three exams per semester, 2 mid semester and one end sem. Depending upon the difficulty of course we usually have 5-20 students getting a back in a course with 2-3 getting year backs.
