What Students Say?
Likes
- Some good societies like the debating -cognizant which helps you to improve real life skills and make you feel confident
- With the implementation of nep you can choose subjects outside of your discipline which increases your range of study
Dislikes
- Infrastructure needs huge improvement so does the lecture halls it almost feels like a rusted school room which hasn't been used for years so does the electrical appliances
- Need for better sports facilities , the football ground is in shambles it's integrated with pebbles and stones how is the team supposed to train there
Course Curriculum Overview
My curriculum holistically covers western philosophy and indian philosophy apart from that it increases your critical thinking skills which is relevant in real world. Exams happen every 6 months specifically june- july and December - january It's not too tough tackling these exams even if you haven't studied for the whole year. Areas for improvement would be quality demonstrations of theories, the ability to make students grasp the concept, interactive sessions outside the classroom once in a while , quizzes, debates, development of abstract thinking etc
Internships Opportunities
There is summer vice chancellor internship as well as the winter version which is provided all over delhi university apart from that internships are provided from companies like tcs (computer science Branch)
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The year wise segregation of fees differ course to course, as for philosophy it was 17k in the first year which includes the registration fees, id charges , document verification charge etc 2nd year it was 10,500 and 3rd year it was 12k Apart from all these there is examination form charges which you have to pay per semester varying around ?900- ?1200. There are provisions for fee concession every year which can be availed according to the parameters set by the establishment. Fees for courses like political science (h) in the first year is usually 20 k similar to bsc. Computer science.
Campus Life
Average campus life no special facilities provided to make social interactions more attractive. Fests happen here and there mainly conducted by respective societies which could make your social life better but other than that every dept ie sports , academics is pretty avg
Admission
I applied for most of the top colleges namely hindu, Stephens , venkateswara etc but unfortunately i didn't prepare thoroughly for the entrance exam (CUET)and hence failed to make the cut off. Going to this college was the last option as i had delayed applying to other universities Past 3 yrs have not been the best cause i didn't willfully chose this college.
Faculty
The student to teachers ratio is hugely improportionate in our department , there are only 3 lecturers who attend all the students studying in various semesters plus they lack quality when it comes to content and comprehension. One of the worst faculties in delhi university until my 2nd year we did not even had a department , it was formed later on. As far as the exam goes with the nep in place you have to attend 6 papers consisting of 3 core , 1 value addition course, 1 skill addition course and 1 departmental exam . It's not to easy and not to tough to gain marks in these papers as the university is quite lenient in their checking. You could gain an upper hand if you look at pyq's as mostly they'll ask question from there
