Course Curriculum Overview

4

My branch Agriculture and Food Engg. is a unique branch as not many top colleges have this branch because for that you need a large land area. Infact our department has a total area of 350 acres which is more than that of IIT DELHI total Area. Curriculum of this branch is very good if one wants to pursue this very field. Further looking at monetary benefits if completes the course well, they can get into top firms like AMUL,HERSHEYS etc. Improvements I cannot talk of many as all things are excellent. This thing is also due to our faculties and department heads which always are at improving the student experience. Frequency of the exams I have mentioned earlier. Talking about difficulty levels, if you study well and practise well you can ace the exams by flying colours.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship opportunities are many in the campus as many startups and companies offer internships with stipends varying according to the roles and the skills of the students. Many companies of each domain are listed below: Software: Google,Adobe,Microsoft,Apple etc Consulting; Accenture,BCG,Mckensie,Deloitte etc Product: TCS,Amazon,Cognizant etc

Placement Experience

3.5

As far as I know students become eligible for placements from 7th Semester onwards. A plethora of companies visit the campus for recruiting the candidates. Latest data tells that over 500 companies visit the campus and 1353 offers were given to 1277 students . Highest package was offered to a CS student which was of 169.8 lakhs. Many profiles are being offered such as Software, Consulting, Finance, Product Management, etc. My plans after getting the degree is do a MTech from IIT Bombay.

Fees and Financial Aid

I will be paying 155000 INR as the total fees for the year 2024-25 session. Similar amounts can be expected to be paid for the forthcoming years as well. There exists many compoenents of fees which are listed below: SEMESTER WISE FEES ARE LISTED BELOW: Tution Fees: 100000 (family income more than 5 lakhs per annum) 33000 (family uncome between 1 and 5 lakhs per annum) No tution fees ( family income less than 1 lakh per annum) OR (people belonging to SC/ST Category) TIP: THERE IS NO FEES EXEMPTION DIRECTLY ON CATEGORY BASIS FOR EWS AAND OBC-NCL STUDENTS) Caution Money: 6000 INR Registration Fees: 400 INR Lab FEES: 800 INR Talking about my batchmates fees as I mentioned earlier it depends upon the category and family income limits. In IITKGP the famous scholarship is MCM Scholarship. IN that we get a full tution fees exemption of 1 lakh. And a Yearly allowance of 12000 INR.

Campus Life

4

There are 3 big fests that are held annually, which are of 3 different domains. First is the Spring Fest, which is the Social and Cultural fest of IIT KGP which is one of the biggest in whole of ASIA. It is held every year for 3 days in month of January. Second is the KSHITIJ fest which is the Techno-Management fest held every year for 3 days in January. Third is the SHAURYA which is the sports fest of IIT KGP. Library here is termed as CENTRAL LIBRARY which has got over 2 lakh books and many journals. We can issue books from the library and library is open 24/7 in the season of exams. Classrooms have got good technology with mics, speakers with good ventilation and air conditioning as well. Sports and extra-curricular activities are very prevelant in the campus with indoor and outoor badminton courts ,cricket and football grounds etc. There are many clubs and societies such as business club, consulting club, robotics club,Entrepreneurship Cell,Student wellness group etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

My Hall is the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall of Residence. In our room we have triple sharing and we have balcony, nice ventilation and 3 sockets with one as LAN port. Meal quality is good, menu changes every month so cannot really explicitly mention the food items. Menu Items include Dosa, puri sabji, cheela, bread butter ,chhole bhature etc. There is no separate process to register for the hostels as we get the accomodation readily when we get admission in the institute. Affordability, it is nice as we do not have many options to chose from outside the campus in terms of PG and Rented Room.

Admission

I applied also to the BITS Pilani and Jadavpur University. I got confirmed admissions at both colleges but I chose IIT KGP because of the auspicious IIT tag. Admission process of IIT KGP involves clearing the JEE ADVANCED , then applying for JOSAA Counselling. As you get your desired college and branch freeze your seat by paying seat acceptance fee of 35 thousand. Then when you get your admission confirmation mail pay the fees and submit the respective documents. ,.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:20. As written in the college rules I cannot explicitly mention the faculties names. Faculties overall are very nice as you can always approach them after office hours at their office and doubt solving is also excellent. In a particular semester there are two exams the autumn( midsemester) and the spring semester (Endsemester) exams. Autumn semester exams carry 30% of the total weightage while spring semester exams carry 70% of the total weightage. Course curriculum is very much relevant to the industry norms. Names of various courses are Basic Engineering Mechanics , Programming and Data Structures, Crop Technology etc.

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
