- There is absolutely zero tolerance for ragging and the seniors are super helpful and super nice.
- The faculty is extremely supportive and very well educated.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure has it’s limitations with more students than space available for classes.
- The campus water is not good and some people of the canteen are kind of rude.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have opted for BA hons pol sc sp the relevance of the subject and demand for it in the job market is high as well as I have economics as my ge which will further boost my cv. The curriculum prepares you a lot for the job market and will give you a lot of insights. The classes are held 3 - 4 times a week for an hour as suggested by nep. The difficulty of certain papers are more as compared to others but all it all it is doable.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly tuition fees we have to pay in Miranda house is around 15460 for BA HONS POLITICAL SCIENCE. The fee increases for Ba prog students but it almost remains the same for other hons degrees. The tuition fee is inclusive of all fees and is payed yearly so per month fees is comparatively less. There are no fee benefits for reserved categories like OBC SC OR ST.
Campus Life
They hold all kinds of celebrations the annual miranda fest is tempest. We also celebrate festivals from all over the world. The library is not air conditioned but it is cool you will find many books related to your discipline specific study and things of other disciplines as well. Certain classrooms have AC(s) but most of them have fans and benches only few have digital boards. There are a range of extracurriculars like NSO NCC etc and other clubs like basketball, kabaddi or dance societies, music societies. We have a lot of NGO related societies we have women development centres, e-cell, TEDxMH cells and many more, life is never boring here.
Admission
I applied to only two colleges Miranda and a college called JB college in Jorhat, Assam. I chose Miranda over other colleges because it's a all girls college as well as good nirf ranking. To get into miranda we have to go through CUET UG entrance examination where you have to atleast score 750+/800. The admission process is very lengthy because of NTA. We have to go through 3 phases of CSAS to be a mirandian.
Faculty
The faculty is really good very approachable, they have a zero tolerance for ragging. The teachers are really helpful and are very mindful towards the mental health of students. The teachers of the department of political science are the best and are all round the best teachers one will ever meet with their experience and teaching methods.
