Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh- Review

- Course curricullam is mostly theory. Less focus on practicle. - You are not stuck with core subjects. You have options of open electives also. - 4th year is very chill. Few days I even didnt had a single class - Depending on course either your 2nd year will packed or 3rd year

- Companies visit campus to provide 6 months internsip in 5th semester. - 4 month continous internship is mandatory in 6th semster. - On campus intership converts to ppo most of the time. - Before recession many companies used to visit

- Before recession placements were good. Median Package was 7 lakhs. - During recession placements has took hit. Few companies are visiting collge and they are hiring less. - During my placemnet cycle are 400 got placed out of 700 but media package was less compared to other years

- Semester fee for general student was 88000 - For reserved category it was half - For BPL card holder it was based on scholarships available. Semester fee could be half or 0 - Topper was awarded full scholarship

- Social Life is very good at campus. If you are acitve in collge then you will make great connections. - Club culture is excelent here. There are many cultural and technical clubs here.\ - College has many flagship events as well whose budget exceeds 50 lakhs wich are totally hosted by students. - College has small pec market where you can chill with friends. Bes time you will spend there

- Hostel are old . Rooms are very old around 70 years old. - Washrooms are recently renovated - You get single sharing room only after 1st year - Menu is okayish. Its like hostel. - Boys hostel has little to no restirctions (Unofficially) . Girls hostel has various restriction including in timmings.

- Its a government colege - Its located in chandigarh - Its has strong alumni base. Collge is 100 years old - Due to less number of students exposure is more - It had stronf track record for placements - Good facilities

- Faculty is good in their respective fields. - Paticulary in civil engineering department all senior faculty was focussed on consulting rather than teaching. - Exam pattern is mid sem , end sem, assignments and quizes. - End sem carry 40-50 weigtage in semester grading. - In this collge its more difficult to fail semester then pass. If you have submitted assignments on time and just appeared in exams base on that also you can pass semester.
