Course Curriculum Overview
I liked the electrical aspects of engineering from 7th std itself and was fascinated by circuits in robots and other machines. These likings influenced me to take electrical as my course. The struggle level for exams is perfect and very good. The curriculum prepares is very well for the outside world.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements. Many well known companies visit iit kharagpur for electrical engineers like bosch siemens luma etc. The average package is of 25 lpa for electrical. The highest package is of 68 lpa. 79 percent of students get placements. my plan after getting a degree is to work for some time and get my masters degree abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
Very good government course in engineering btech and mtech for minimal fees. Quality education and hostel is provided for the students. The campus is the largest one in India for any engineering course.
Campus Life
Many fests happen in iit like shaurya kshitij and spring fest etc . People from all over the country come for these festivals. The library at iit kgp is the largest library in central asia and houses many books and ebooks. Many sports facilities both indoor and outdoor are present here including a swimming pool , football grounds stadium etc. many clubs are present here like robotixs club , chess club business club, dance club etc
Hostel Facilities
The facilities provided are cupboard study table bed and fan . Washrooms are present on each wing and are very clean. Mess food is good tasty and healthy as well. The hostel fees are very less only 15000 per semester. Registration proceess for the hostel is done by the college itself .
Admission
My only choices were the iits for electrical engineering. These iits are world renowned and a degree from any of these makes us well prepared and up to date with the happenings of the world. The admission process of the iits is through the jee advanced exam which is in may. to appear for the jee advanced exam one has to clear the jee mains exam first. Iit kharagpur is the oldest and the mother of all other iits and hence my first choice.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:80 excluding all the teaching assistants. The name of the faculties i liked the best was proffesor Atul Jain , proffesor A.K. Pradhan and proffesor Bipin Roy. All the facultie members are very approachable and friendly . There are 2 main exams every 6 months and they are easily passable if you study consistently. The course curriculum is very relevant and up to date.
