Dislikes
- The infrastructure could be better. College is new but looks very old.
- There are hostels only for 4th year students. Rest year students have to pay a huge rent outside.
- College is little bit far from main road. You have to walk 8-10 mins to reach college from main road but that's not a big problem.
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm an electrical engineering student in this college. And this is the hardest branch among all branches of engineering but if you have interests in this field you will enjoy this course. I'm a lateral student and in diploma also I have electrical engineering. You have a plenty of career opportunities after btech in electrical engineering. In my college the department is very good. Faculties are experienced and they teach us the subjects very well. Exams are semester based in one year 2 semester. And there are 4 internals every semester.
Internships Opportunities
Tata, Infosys, Wipro, Amazon, Deloitte, Coding Ninja gives us the opportunity to do internship with them. Internship opportunities are available with our college, but as a fresher I don't know about the stipend amount. Most of the work is IT based. For non IT students there are less chance of internship available from college you have to find your own.
Placement Experience
As the college is new and I'm a 2nd year lateral student i have not much idea about placements. But the placement is average. TP cell is very much active to improve campus placement. But the academic system is very good so students can get job easily even without campus placement. I came to know from one of my senior that 7lakhs per annum is the highest package form the college. I planned to give GATE exam after getting my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for all courses are very less as compared. For electrical, mechanical and civil engineering department the course fee for every semester is 3000 rupees and for electronics and computer science engineering the fee is 6000/- rupees per semester. At the time of admission you have to pay total 8000/- rupees including one semester fee. Scholarships are available for all the students like SVMCM which gives us 60000/- rupees as scholarship per year. Hostel fee is also less, 11000/- rupees per semester. As the college is new campus placement is not so good but average.
Campus Life
There are so much annual and technical festival held in our college like freshers welcome, annual cultural fest, tech fest, teachers day and many more. Generally annual fest held in April and freshers welcome in February. Library has sufficient books for every department and it is well maintained. Classrooms are well lighted, sufficient fans and ac's (not all classroom) and Every room has projectors. Badminton , cricket, football, basketball all the playing ground are available. There are also music, dance, photography, recitation, debate, tech , drama etc clubs in our college which gives more exposure to students.
Admission
You have to clear WBJEE/JELET exam to get admission in this college. As it is a government college it needs a good rank. For CSE and EE department you have to score 600-800 rank in jelet and in wbjee 3000-4000 rank is sufficient to get admission. You can go through our college website for more details. Exams held in semester system,2 semester per year, and the college is affiliated under MAKAUT university which has a high standard. Question quality is moderate. Admission process is smooth and as the college is located in North Bengal I would suggest to complete the admission process in one day as it is located in remote area so for many new comers it will be problematic.
Faculty
The faculty members are so much humble and teach all the things with very great approach. There are sufficient faculty for every department. The faculty to student ratio is 1:8 per department as there are 60 students for each branch for every year. They provide knowledge as well as mentorship to students. Students can interact with them whenever they want, and they are very much helpful and humble to students. Overall all the facilities are good.
