Lush green campus.Situated beside torsa river.
There are many clubs for extra curricular activities
Ragging free campus.Seniors are helpful.

Dislikes

On campus placement is not so good. It is average.
Currently no hostel for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students(boys).
Classes are not held regularly. Less number of faculties.

Course Curriculum Overview

There are 5 departments in our college - Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering. As our college is affiliated with MAKAUT so it has to follow makaut rules but the course curriculum should be updated and should develop the practical knowledge of the students in their respective courses.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 6000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for CSE and ECE is 6000/- per semester and for Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil it is 3000/- per semester and University exam fees are 1200/- per semester. Students can get an SVMCM scholarship that is 60000/- per year if he/she has a required cgpa that is 6.75.

Campus Life

Campus life is quite good. CGEC has a campus of about 20 acres beside the Torsa River. Our College has an administration building, an academic building, digital classrooms, a library, workshops, Laboratories, a Canteen, a Gym, a Hostel, a cricket and football ground, a volleyball and badminton court, Common room for students. There are many clubs present at our college for extracurricular activities. "Byteburst " is our official tech fest and "ESPERANZA " is the annual tech cum cultural fest organized by our college. Sports culture is very good. Many tournaments are organized for college students like cricket tournaments, football tournaments, volleyball tournaments, badminton tournaments, and chess tournaments.

Admission

For regular entry (in 1st year) you have to qualify for WBJEE with a decent rank and you can get admission through the counselling process. You can check cut off in wbjee official website. For lateral entry (in 2nd year) you have to qualify for JELET.

Faculty

3.5

Faculties as well as technical assistants are well experienced and very helpful to their students. They have good knowledge of their respective subjects. They help students with studies, making projects, to organizing any events at college. But the number of faculties should be increased. Because of less number of faculties, the classes are not held regularly.

The course curriculum is very relevant and useful for us.They teach data structures algorithm that is very important for college placements and they also teach os, networks and other usefull things that is very important in computer science.They provide very high quality labs and the whole college has a good internet connection.Tecahers are very educated and good they helps us and teaching in very good way .The exams time schedule is also very good if there is any problem the college will change the exam date that is really a good thing.

Story of hit

Placement Experience:

The campus placement from recently past years is slightly good . Like tcs infosys cognizant ibm Capgemini like companies comes every year with good placement and capsitech gives you internship from 3 year . From 7th sem you are eligible for campus placement in 2025 the avg package is 5-7 lpa and Highest lpa is 75lpa . My plan is getting good job in good company

Placement Experience:

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

Placement Experience:

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft.The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles,finance in some cases.The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.
