Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum involves a lot of soft skill and communication training which is very applicable in the real world. The first year of the AIML doesn't involve many technical subjects, it does give a student time to have a better preparation for entering the programming world, but it depends on person to person whether he likes this approach or not. There is a fair gap between the exams and the assignments of most of the subjects are not really troublesome. It is easy to pass the semester exams with the basic effort of studying.
Internships Opportunities
Internship oppurtunities are relayed to the students through their respective university email addresses. Some of them are unpaid some of them are paid, but any of them provide a good experience to share in ones Curriculum Vita.
Placement Experience
By the end of the 6th semester, students are eligible for placements. The placements provided on campus are mostly low package jobs, but one who is worthy of better results are free to apply off campus. The highest package ever attained by a brainware student was 42 lpa, but it is highly doubted that placement was awarded on-campus. Since the no. of students is very high, it is to be expected that only a small amount of them would satisfied with their placements, but as long as an individual possesses enough skill, he is sure to get a satisfactory placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition does not vary much yearly, it has remained well below 5lacs for a 4 year course for a long time now. The general fees of AIML course is 4.6lacs. The college does provide a merit based scholarship, which could waiver uptp 80% of the college fees. The college also helps in availing government scholarships. There are few Masters Students who work as assistant teachers, they are also awarded stipend.
Campus Life
The campus organises numerous events, the biggest of them being the Anandadhara(Fest), where huge celebrities are invited to perform. The college keeps the students more than happy when it comes to cultural events and their organisation. Their are also numerous clubs, each of which holds an audition to accept new members. There is also a huge central library, which hold countless books, student are free to borrow books as per their need. The overall sports and extra curricular activities offered in the college are very good, except that of the CSE department, the heads of this dept neglects these activities and do not care about the student's interest in this field.
Admission
The AIML course is eligible for candidates who have secured more than 65% marks in their HS exams. One could apply through their online portal. The college conducts an autonomous entrance exam, which the student may give on the day of their admission, the exam is fairly easy and the cutoff is very low, almost anyone can get admission in the college, regardless of their aptitude.
Faculty
The faculty members are all very good, and well-qualified for their positions. They are also very friendly and approachable. The primary medium of communication is english, but they do not mind speaking in bengali or hindi, their primary concern is teaching the subject not the medium. Mr. Soumyajit Sarkar, the HOD of Physics, is a gem of a teacher, an IIT graduate, he is one of the best if not the best teacher in the University.
