Course Curriculum Overview

5

The best thing about M tech program in IISc which makes it different from other IITs is that it gives you one semester to think and choose your major. Unlike IITs where you have to choose major before admission.

Internships Opportunities

5

M tech students can apply for internships in summer after first year. Top companies which come for placement usually come for internships too. These internships are usually paid internships to equip student with relevant skills which will be required for job.

Placement Experience

5

Campus placement conditions have improved in IISc after the inception of campus placement cell. Average package is around I would say 25 lpa. Since most of the students go for higher studies from IISc hence, you will see the placement percentage to be low. Personality I am also going for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

M tech students are given monthly stipend of 12400/- rupees. Which is enough to cover all your expenses including tuition and hostel. Similarly PhD students get monthly stipend of around 40,000. There are schemes like PMRF for PhD student in which they can get monthly stipend of around 75000 which is quite attractive.

Campus Life

5

One of the most popular cultural festivals at IISc is "Pravega" which is annual techno-cultural fest organised by the students. they also have annual sports meet. Apart from these sports specific tournaments are also there like inter department cricket tournament.

Hostel Facilities

5

M tech students get single room. Monthly fee of Rs 2000. They also provide free room Cleaning facility. Mess food is top quality in terms of hygiene and taste but a bit on expensive side. Mess bill of B mess which is North Indian non veg mess was around Rs 6000 per month. And it slightly varies based on mess

Admission

For M tech in civil engineering you just need to have bachelors degree in relevant field and a valid gate score. Gate cutoff keeps on varying so can't tell exact number but for general category student gate score should be above 750. Application fee for Mtech is Rs 800 for General/OBC/EWS. For civil engineering department they don't take any interview, they select solely on gate score

Faculty

5

Faculties are very approachable. Almost all whom I met. They are very high qualified in their fields. You can meet them anytime, just need to drop a mail. There are enough faculties, there won't be any issue regarding student to faculty ratio.

Placement Experience:

IIIT Banglore is well-known for its placement opportunities. The college not only has high educational standards but also offers competitive placement packages. Every year, the college retains a 100% placement record, with the highest selection package reaching up to 46 LPA and the median wage package being around 19 LPA, which are very good packages in contrast to many engineering colleges of such stature. Members of the college placement panel are also highly professional and have extensive industrial experience.

The management is good and is always responsive to the student needs. A lot of the things in the college is student run so there is less interaction of ordinary students with the management. Every thing is done through the SAC (Students Activity Committee).
