Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

An honours degree in Political Science, comes with a vast syllabus but material is easy to acquire. This may include textbooks or PYQs. The course has also seen multiple updates to be inclusive to the constantly changing political landscape. One can pursue a career in law, academia, political analysis etc.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internships are provided through college tie ups but also personal merit and achievement is equally important. Professors and organisations working with the college can aid you in your process of interning at a company.

Fees and Financial Aid

A Political Science course from DU is far cheaper than one from a private institute. Most colleges offer the course at 15k yearly. Overall the course caps at 25k at the more expensive end of the spectrum. This obviously doesn't include cost of transportation or hostels.

Campus Life

4

DU has multiple societies that include those associated with music, theatre, dance. These clubs are oriented both to western and Indian forms of their respective arts. Some societies such as Enactus, NSS and NCC are common throughout all DU colleges. These clubs are concerned with Social work( Enactus, NSS) or the Cadet Corps(NCC)

Admission

The admission process of DU has been streamlined with the introduction of the CUET. After giving your exam one has to prepare a list of colleges along with the course they wish to pursue. The list should ideally be made with one's favoured colleges at the top. Then you are alloted a college and if you're unhappy with the one you have been alloted you can reapply but only the colleges that appeared above the college you're alloted in the list you made are now available to you.

Faculty

4

The faculty have plenty of experience, our department has 9 professors in a class of 104 so the teacher to student ratio is just above 10, this is pretty good and most of the time professors are super accessible. All of them are fairly professional and understand if a student has to take time to serve extra curricular duties in the college.

The faculty didn't seem impressive to me

Placement Experience:

Dyal Singh Placements aren't that hefty that I can boast a lot about them. Since I have already mentioned in previous section that I want the deepest knowledge of political science and the only way, one can gain that is by doing masters. Coming to DSC placements over 30% students of Political Science from our college are placed via campus.

Placement Experience:

Media people as Hindi Hons students obviously have chane there or researches. Some even pursue freelance things as college provides the perfect platform to gain confidence and showcase the skills. Otherwise research or political expert roles are the only roles offered to Hindi Hons students. Since I want a complete command I will be doing masters in Hindi Hons.

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

Placement Experience:

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Area that should be improved that is treat every student similarly without any discrimination. Faculty don't even tdke action on sol, IGNOU and NCWEB students. So I think it should be improved firstly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

So there is a placement cell here in LSR that serves as a mediator between recruiters and students and provide adequate placement opportunities for students from various departments. Also companies like Blackstone, accenture, nomura come for placements and the highest package that has been offered to a student was INR 45 LPA!

The course curriculum I took is okay considering the low placement percentage from the college's side which is I would say sometimes bad and good at the same time as the students can find their own way around such things. Faculty just complete the topics. we have to study ourselves.
